The Workforce Optimization Specialist is a newly established role at UHN, designed to support the development of a standard, organization-wide scheduling methodology and optimization. This position is pivotal in ensuring the seamless integration of optimal scheduling practices, the creation of standard scheduling methodologies and tools, and optimizing workforce management at UHN.
The Workforce Optimization Specialist provides consultation and support to managers in rotation management techniques to optimize resource utilization. In the role, you will play a crucial in facilitating UHN’s scheduling processes with the goal that all areas are adequately staffed in an operationally safe and cost-efficient manner at all times. You will act as a scheduling business partner, using expertise in strategic scheduling to assess and make decisions collaboratively with operational leadership teams across a defined portfolio to ensure adherence to appropriate collective agreements, scheduling policies and models of care. This role involves capturing rotation requirements, creating rotation plans, and building rotations using standard methodologies and tools. The Workforce Optimization Specialist facilitates change, advises on best practice and liaises with various stakeholders to achieve optimal results.

You are a dynamic and detail-oriented professional with deep experience optimizing workforce management and scheduling practices. Your advanced business acumen and analytical skills enable you to navigate complex rotation requirements and develop sustainable solutions. You thrive in collaborative environments, engaging with diverse stakeholders to ensure the seamless implementation of innovative scheduling models.
Your deep understanding of collective agreements and health care service delivery models allows you to create rotation plans that balance budget constraints, coverage needs, and organizational guidelines. You are adept at managing multiple consultations concurrently, prioritizing tasks effectively to meet review timelines.
As a Workforce Optimization Specialist, you are committed to continuous improvement, working closely with managers to monitor and enhance rotation quality. Your excellent communication skills and ability to facilitate workshops make you a valuable resource in gathering requirements and presenting optimal rotation strategies.
You are excited about contributing to the implementation and ongoing management of UHN’s first Workforce Management System, playing a key role in shaping the future of scheduling and workforce optimization within the organization.
