Compassion’s Global Communications team is building the future of how we inspire, inform and align staff across the global ministry. We are looking for an experienced communicator who can serve as a trusted communications partner to leaders and teams while connecting their needs to Compassion’s broader enterprise priorities.

The Communications Specialist III is an experienced communications advisor, strategist and tactician. This person builds strong relationships with internal clients, assesses communication needs and opportunities, and develops thoughtful strategies and tactics that advance ministry goals and contribute to an integrated enterprise communications plan.

This role requires someone who can move comfortably between strategy and execution—advising leaders, developing plans, shaping compelling narratives, writing communications, embracing emerging AI tools and technologies, and collaborating across teams to bring the work to life.

What will you do?

  • Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Be a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintaining a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully uphold Compassion’s ministry in prayer.
  • Act as an advocate to raise awareness of the needs of children. Understand Christ’s mandate to protect children. Commit to and prioritize child protection considerations in all decision-making, tasks and activities across the ministry. Abide by all behavioral expectations in Compassion’s Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and Code of Conduct. Report concerns through Compassion’s internal reporting process and appropriately support responses to incidents if they occur.
  • Uphold and engage in Compassion’s core Cultural Behaviors.
  • Build and steward trusted relationships with assigned leaders and teams, developing a strong understanding of their goals, audiences and communication needs.
  • Assess communication needs and opportunities, provide strategic counsel, and develop plans and tactics that connect stakeholder needs to enterprise communications priorities.
  • Craft and implement integrated communication strategies and plans that inspire, inform and align global audiences around ministry goals and priorities.
  • Translate complex organizational decisions, strategies and initiatives into clear, compelling narratives and communications that help employees understand what matters, why it matters and what it means for them.
  • Partner across functions, regions and stakeholder groups, collaborating with creative teams and specialists to develop engaging, multi-language communications and experiences.
  • Produce clear and approachable written materials across email, digital channels, video, town halls, leadership communications and other formats in accordance with Compassion’s style guide, editorial standards and policies.
  • Use AI and emerging communications technologies thoughtfully and responsibly to strengthen research, ideation, planning, content development and execution; experiment with new approaches and share learnings that improve the quality and efficiency of communications work.
  • Measure the effectiveness of communication efforts and apply insights to future strategies and approaches.
  • Serve as a brand and culture ambassador, developing communications that connect leaders and staff, strengthen the employee experience and bring Compassion’s mission and brand to life.
  • Periodically serve in a public speaking, facilitation or training capacity and support external communications efforts as needed.
  • May support team leadership activities such as leading projects, managing budgets or coaching other communications staff.

What do you bring?

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in internal communications, corporate communications or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with leaders or internal clients to assess needs, provide communications counsel and develop strategies and plans.
  • Strong strategic thinking and the ability to connect individual communication needs to broader organizational goals and priorities.
  • Excellent writing, editing and storytelling skills, including the ability to make complex information clear, relevant and engaging.
  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder-management skills, with the confidence to advise and influence leaders when appropriate.
  • Experience developing and executing communications across multiple channels and audiences.
  • Curiosity and demonstrated comfort using AI-enabled tools and experimenting with emerging technologies to improve communications work.
  • Ability to move fluidly between strategic thinking and hands-on execution in a dynamic, changing environment.
  • Experience using measurement and audience insights to evaluate and improve communications.
  • Experience working collaboratively across functions, teams or geographies.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred, but not required.
