Job Description

About Nutrient

At Nutrient, we're revolutionizing how the world works with documents. Our tools transform static files into intelligent, secure workflows, empowering businesses to innovate faster and smarter.

Trusted by thousands of organizations across 80 countries, including Fortune 500 companies and public sector leaders, our platform supports nearly a billion end users globally in industries where documents aren't just files, they're mission-critical.

Your Role at Nutrient...

We're looking for a technically skilled, customer-oriented Workflow Automation Engineer to join our solutions delivery team. You'll be the person who takes a customer's messy, manual process and turns it into something elegant, configuring and building workflow solutions on the Nutrient platform that actually make people's jobs easier.

This isn't a "ticket in, ticket out" engineering role. You'll work directly with customers to understand what they need, translate that into a working solution, and iterate with them until it's right. One day you're deep in an API integration; the next you're on a call helping a customer see what's possible. If you enjoy both sides of that equation, the technical problem-solving and the human conversation, you'll thrive here.

You'll be part of a collaborative delivery team where your ideas about how to do things better are genuinely welcome. We move fast, we learn from each other, and we care about the quality of what we ship.

What You'll Work On...

  • Configure and build end-to-end workflow automation solutions for customers across industries, translating business requirements into reliable, production-ready implementations on the Nutrient platform
  • Collaborate directly with customers through requirements gathering, solution design, and iterative feedback — guiding them through the full delivery lifecycle with clarity and confidence
  • Apply AI and LLM capabilities where they add real value — whether that's intelligent document processing, AI-assisted routing, or integrating with external AI services via API
  • Design and implement system integrations using REST and SOAP/XML APIs, handling authentication (OAuth, API keys, tokens), data transformation, and edge-case error handling
  • Troubleshoot and resolve integration and workflow issues efficiently, with an eye toward root cause rather than just symptoms
  • Document your work clearly: integration designs, configuration decisions, and anything a future engineer (or customer admin) would need to understand and maintain the solution
  • Surface patterns and improvements from your customer work and feed them back into the team to create better processes, reusable components, product feedback

What You'll Bring...

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience delivering workflow, BPM, or integration solutions in a customer-facing or consulting context
  • Solid web technology skills: JavaScript, HTML, JSON; comfortable reading and writing the kind of code that makes integrations work
  • Experience building and consuming REST APIs and/or SOAP/XML web services, including authentication patterns and data transformation
  • Working knowledge of SQL: enough to query, filter, and troubleshoot data issues without hand-holding
  • Familiarity with AI/ML integration patterns — experience calling LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI, etc.), working with AI-assisted document processing (OCR, extraction, classification), or embedding AI-driven decision logic into automated workflows. Hands-on experimentation and self-taught experience counts. We care that you've gotten your hands dirty with this.
  • Comfort working directly with customers: you know how to ask the right questions, manage expectations, and keep a project moving without being pushy

Ideally...

  • Bonus: Familiarity with BPM concepts and working with clients in highly-regulated environments
  • Bonus: Experience with Git/GitHub for version control — you won't be committing code daily, but being comfortable with a PR workflow and issue tracking in Jira goes a long way on this team
  • Bonus: Direct experience with Nutrient Workflow, Integrify, or other workflow platforms

Who Thrives Here...

At Nutrient, we’re not just hiring for skills — we’re hiring for mindset. The people who thrive here are:

  • Collaborators You collaborate openly, listen actively, and prioritize team success over ego.
  • Hungry Learners Rapid learning fuels progress and career growth.
  • Curious Thinkers You dig deep to uncover the “why,” valuing understanding over simply being right.
  • Self-Starters You take action without waiting for direction, turning obstacles into opportunities with creativity and persistence.
  • Owners You take responsibility for solutions and outcomes, always looking for ways to improve what’s within your control.
  • Doers You’re energized by progress, motivated to create meaningful impact, and eager to tackle challenges.

Why You'll Love Working Here...

At Nutrient, we tackle complex challenges to build tools and solutions that reshape how businesses and developers experience and interact with documents. Our culture is centered around continuous growth and collaboration, ensuring every team member has the opportunity to learn, innovate, and drive meaningful change at our company.

We’re a remote-first, globally distributed company that values speed, autonomy, and continuous learning. You’ll have the freedom to experiment, the tools to move fast, and the support of teammates who care deeply about doing great work together.

We offer competitive salaries, comprehensive benefits, and an annual global retreat to celebrate achievements and foster connections. Past retreats have taken place in locations like Croatia, Spain, and Greece.

If working from the US, you must be located in Florida, Indiana, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, or Virginia for payroll processing.

Nutrient employs people from many different cultures and countries. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. If you’re excited by our mission and ready to drive exponential growth in a rapidly changing landscape, we want to meet you! Let’s build the future of document technology together. 🚀
