This role is responsible for handling workers compensation claims independently with minimal oversight, using current claims technology and best practices. The position investigates claims thoroughly, evaluates coverage, damages, and liability, and makes sound decisions to resolve claims efficiently. Responsibilities include negotiating settlements with insureds, claimants, and attorneys; managing files from start to finish; setting and maintaining accurate reserves; and overseeing litigated claims. The role also participates in ongoing training, presents claims to committee as needed, mentors others on the team, and consistently delivers strong customer service while meeting department audit and quality standards.
This position offers both remote and hybrid work locations. Candidates who reside within 50 miles of an office location (West Bend, Madison, Appleton) will be offered a hybrid work schedule. Candidates who are fully remote (beyond 50 miles) may occasionally be asked to travel to an office location for in-person engagement activities such as team meetings, training and corporate events.
Handle work comp claims with minimal supervision and guidance from the manager. Utilize current Claims technology. Research and formulate a basis on which coverage decisions will be made, conduct thorough investigations, evaluate damages and liability. Negotiate settlements with insureds, claimants and attorneys. Responsibilities also include active file management, ensuring proper reserving, participation in training activities, presentation of claims to Committee and supervision of litigated files. Serve as a mentor for others in the team or department. Consistently exhibit a high level of customer service and adherence to department audit guidelines.

The salary range for this position is $55,000-$86,000.
The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity. Compensation decisions are made by West Bend and are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
