Summary
The Workday HCM Manager serves as the organization’s implementation project lead and internal expert for Workday functionality across HCM, Compensation, Talent, Absence, and associated HR processes. This role ensures our HR technology ecosystem operates with accuracy, reliability, and integrity, supporting a positive employee experience and empowering data driven decision making.
This individual partners with HR, Payroll, Finance, IT, and site leadership to optimize system design, implement enhancements, maintain security protocols, and ensure Workday supports our long term strategic goals. The Workday HCM Manager acts as an advisor, troubleshooter, and steward of data quality, modeling the calm, methodical approach expected within our HR leadership culture.
Key Responsibilities
System Administration & Configuration
- Maintain and configure Workday functional areas, including business processes, condition rules, notifications, security groups, and recurring processes.
- Lead the development, testing, and roll out of new system implementation, enhancements, updated modules, integrations, and system updates.
- Own Workday’s biannual release review process, assessing impacts, communicating changes, and ensuring a seamless adoption across the business.
Data Governance & Reporting
- Ensure data accuracy, compliance, and audit readiness across all Workday HR modules.
- Create, maintain, and optimize Workday reports, dashboards, and analytics to support organizational insights and workforce planning.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data inconsistencies, escalating issues as needed with clarity and precision.
User Support & Training
- Serve as the primary internal consultant for HR, Payroll, and managers regarding Workday functionality, troubleshooting, and best practices.
- Develop and facilitate training materials, job aids, and support resources that enhance user capability and promote self service.
- Provide elevated support for Workday inquiries with professionalism and a solution focused demeanor.
Security & Compliance
- Maintain Workday security roles to ensure proper access, segregation of duties, and alignment with corporate policies and SOX compliance.
- Support HR compliance efforts by ensuring Workday configuration aligns with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
- Partner with internal auditors and external stakeholders to ensure system controls remain robust and documented.
Project Leadership & Cross Functional Partnership
- Contribute as a subject matter expert to cross functional initiatives involving HR technology, process redesign, or system expansion.
- Support vendor relationships and partner with Workday support when escalations or technical resolutions are required.
- Collaborate with HR leadership to ensure Workday supports a consistent, high integrity experience for all employees.

Qualifications

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field or equivalent experience.
- Workday Pro certification or equivalent advanced functional training required.
- 3+ years of demonstrated experience configuring Workday modules, business processes, security, and reports.
- Demonstrated success with large scale HR transformation initiatives or HCM implementations Required. Workday New implementation experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of SOX compliance in relation to HCM systems.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to navigate competing priorities with calm, methodical discipline.
- Strong analytical skills and demonstrated judgment when interpreting data or system behavior.
- Ability to communicate with clarity, professionalism, and composure when supporting users or explaining complex system concepts.
- Experience supporting multi location or multi union environments strongly preferred.
