Job Description

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy integration recipes in Workato connecting SaaS applications, internal systems, and APIs

  • Translate business and functional requirements into scalable, maintainable integration solutions

  • Build and manage connections using Workato connectors, and configure custom connectors where needed

  • Implement error handling, retry logic, and monitoring/alerting to ensure integration reliability

  • Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues in test and production environments

  • Document integration architecture, data flows, and technical specifications

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and other engineers to scope requirements

  • Apply knowledge of technology areas beyond Workato — including infrastructure, networking and third-party system integration — to propose robust, end-to-end solutions.

  • Identify potential areas of value-add and opportunities for process or platform improvement.

  • Support platform governance — environment management, version control, recipe lifecycle, and best practices

  • Leadership capability or experience mentoring other engineers

  • Work independently to provide Day 1 development and Day 2 support, ensuring continued stability and performance of deployed solutions.

Education

  • Degree in Engineering or related field

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience building and deploying integrations on the Workato platform, with a track record of completed Workato projects (not just training/certification)

  • Demonstrate experience across both Day 1 (design and build of new integrations) and Day 2 (ongoing maintenance, monitoring, and support of live integrations) — comfortable owning a recipe from initial delivery through production support and troubleshooting.

  • Understanding of centralized data flows, data orchestrator, data governance, and system-of-record concepts

  • Solid understanding of integration patterns (point-to-point, pub/sub, batch, real-time/event-driven)

  • Understanding and experience with Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and microservices-based solutions

  • Experience working with REST/SOAP APIs, webhooks, and JSON/XML data structures

  • Working proficiency in scripting and leading programming languages (JavaScript, Ruby, Python, or similar) for custom logic within integration workflows

  • Knowledge of relational databases (e.g., MS SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL)

  • Experience with authentication protocols/methods (OAuth 2.0, SAML, API key management, MS Entra)

  • Previous experience with IaaS/PaaS cloud environments

  • Familiarity with common enterprise SaaS systems (e.g. HubSpot, Workday, ServiceNow, or similar)

  • Understanding of data mapping, transformation, and error-handling strategies

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey and relate ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach

  • Strong work ethic, attention to quality, and ability to take ownership of deliverables

  • Ability to quickly learn new concepts, technologies, and solve problems independently

  • Experience in an Agile delivery environment

  • Workato certification(s) (e.g., Workato Automation Pro)

  • Experience in early childhood education, social services, or regulated sectors

  • Knowledge of school management, CRM, HR, or finance enterprise systems

  • Prior experience contributing to a Centre of Excellence or innovation function

  • Familiar with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), integration with Google Workspace.

  • Experience integrating AI/LLM services via Workato (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, or other AI connectors/APIs within Workato recipes)

  • Exposure to building AI-driven automation workflows (e.g., document processing, conversational agents, intelligent routing)

  • Exposure to RPA tools (e.g., UiPath) for automating legacy or UI-only systems without accessible APIs — useful for scenarios where Workato's API-based integration approach isn't sufficient

  • Exposure to event brokers (Kafka, EventBridge, Pub/Sub, RabbitMQ) or EDI
