The Transit Engineering Services Technical Support Branch provides safe, reliable, efficient, timely and cost-effective transit vehicle maintenance services to support federally regulated transit services within the city. The work involves planning, developing, managing, implementing, coordinating, and monitoring transit vehicle maintenance activities; materials management and warranty activities; and engineering and technical support activities for vehicle maintenance, including reliability and quality process analysis.
You provide technical support and expertise as part of fleet service maintenance. The incumbent plans, assigns, prioritizes, and monitors campaign and program work, as well as plans and coordinates trials to follow up on proposed solutions related to investigations of technical support activities.
You also provide onsite or off-site direction and technical support to employees, vendors, and suppliers, and perform and provide root cause analysis, quality checks, audit as required on or off site and provide feedback.
Completion of secondary school (Grade 12) or equivalent
Completion of Truck and Coach Technician apprenticeship program of 6720 hours and Automotive Service Technician apprenticeship program of 7220 hours
Auto Body and Collision Damage Repairer apprenticeship program of 8000 hours is considered an asset
Minimum of 4 years of experience as a certified journey tradesperson in a bus or vehicle maintenance operation with experience in a wide range of equipment and maintenance programs, including:
Valid Ontario unrestricted CZ class driver’s licence (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulatedCurrent Standard First Aid, CPR and/or AED certificates are assetsValid Ontario Certificate of Qualification as Truck and Coach Technician 310T and Automotive Service Technician 310SElectrical Safety Awareness – High Voltage training certificate is an assetTransportation of Dangerous Goods training certificate approved in Ontario is an asset
