San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance is an international, nonprofit conservation organization with two front doors: the San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. We integrate wildlife health and care, science, and education to develop sustainable conservation solutions.
HOW YOU WILL IMPACT OUR MISSION
The Work and Family Programs Manager is responsible for day-to-day oversight of the organization's leave of absence program, workers compensation program and work accommodation process. This position reports to the Vice President of Human Resources.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
• Responsible for oversight of the Work and Family programs team, including but not limited to, interviewing, hiring, training and performance management.
• Work closely with organization business partners to resolve employee issue related to leave of absences, workers compensation administration and workplace accommodations.
• Oversee Leave of Absence program and ensure compliance with all Local, State and Federal Leave of Absence laws and regulations.
• Act as the liaison between the organization and third party medical vendor for all workers compensation issues including accident follow up and accident claim management in coordination with third party administrator.
• Lead the interactive process for new and current employees.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
This is a temporary position for up to 6 months.
JOB EXPERIENCE
• Must have at least two years of experience in administration and oversight of employee work life programs or employee benefit programs.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's Degree in business or related field preferred.
• HR Certification (SHRM) preferred.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
• Strong working knowledge of leave of absence law, workers compensation law and fundamentals of benefits administration.
• Able to operate moderately complex computer programs and HRIS platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to handle highly complex interpersonal situations with a high level of tact and diplomacy.
• Able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Able to handle multiple tasks with competing deadlines using time management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver information in presentation form to various levels of employees.

• Salary Range: $87,264 to $92,264

The posted salary range represents the full compensation potential for this role over time. Initial hiring offers are typically made within the lower to mid portion of the range and are based on a combination of relevant experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and organizational considerations. Placement near the top of the range is generally reserved for individuals who demonstrate sustained performance, growth, and expanded responsibilities in the role over time.
