JOB TITLE: WOMEN’S RESIDENCE MANAGER

DEPARTMENT: PROGRAM

STATUS: FULL- TIME

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: CENTER ADMINISTRATOR

GENERAL STATEMENT:

JOB OBJECTIVE:

Under the direction of the Center Administrator, the Residence Manager is responsible for the management of the women’s residence facility and beneficiaries. As a team member in the Rehabilitation area, she promotes a climate for effective performance and learning through his attitudes, willingness to teach and learn and availability to beneficiaries and staff. Encouragement is given to the individual to continue to seek experience and training which will enhance her ability to work more effectively with beneficiaries.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Program graduate with continuing involvement in a program of recovery is desirable, but not required.
  • Ability to supervise beneficiaries as revealed by experience, training, and/or interview.
  • Possession of 'Class B' Driver's License, if in California, with acceptable driving record. Ability to acquire the license within 45 days is acceptable.
  • Integrity, resourcefulness, initiative and evidence of self-improvement.
  • Demonstrate ability to support and apply the philosophy and goals of The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center Program as stated in the Mission Statement.
  • No evidence of existing chemical dependency.
  • If chemically dependent, shall be free of and have had at least one year free of any chemical abuse or dependency.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and other office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly on the telephone.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs
  • Ability to perform various repetitive motion tasks
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

FACILITY MANAGEMENT

  1. Ensure proper maintenance of grounds and buildings, scheduling needed repairs and other maintenance work within guidelines provided by the Administrator.
  1. Provide routine supervision of residence desk, canteen, laundry, and janitorial staff including such training as needed in canteen operations, laundry operations, proper phone procedures and customer relations for deskmen, and appropriate safety requirements for cleaning supplies.
  1. Supervise inside and outside workers for special projects or repairs.
  1. Order needed supplies for proper operation of the residence.

BENEFICIARY SUPERVISION

  1. Provide orientation of new beneficiaries to the requirements of the residence and the program.
  1. Assigning rooms including private rooms in accordance with set procedures. Conduct random locker checks as required by review standards, but not less than once per month.
  1. Monitor, facilitate, supervise beneficiary activities including prescription medications, house meetings and devotions, and adding items to Personal Property Statements.
  1. Provide short-term crisis counseling.
  1. Provide recreational programming for residents. Participate in all activities at the residence, maintaining open relationships with all the residents.
  1. Supervise and/or administer Breathalyzer testing when requested by Rehabilitation Services staff or when beneficiaries return to the residence.
  1. Supervise collection of urine test specimens, ensuring that proper security procedures are adhered to including labeling and transport.
  1. Act as a role model for beneficiaries, both as a resident of the ARC and as a woman in recovery, in personal dress and in general behavior.
  1. When required prepare and submit ARCC-210 forms in accordance with current policies.
  1. Make security rounds each evening before retiring.
  1. Ensure that fire drills in the residence are held on a regular basis.
  1. Maintain good order and discipline without favoritism in accordance with ARCC policies.
  1. Discharge, when appropriate, those beneficiaries whose behavior warrants such a consequence.
  1. Help coordinate special events at the facility in cooperation with the Director of Special Services and the Rehabilitation Manager. These events include holiday events, retreats, intern dinners, and others as scheduled.
  1. Drive a Salvation Army passenger van as part of his duties.
  1. Maintain necessary records and statistics as directed.
  1. Coordinate vacation time with Center Administrator to ensure that coverage for all functions is provided.
  1. Maintain duty driver list ensuring driver availability for required functions including driving men’s program participants, if applicable, as routinely scheduled.
  1. Know ARC Safety Regulations for the residence and ensure that staff and beneficiaries follow these safety requirements.
  1. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with established policies and laws to help maintain the integrity of the total program.
  1. Overtime. All overtime must have the written approval of the Center Administrator
  1. Perform other duties as assigned by the Rehabilitation Manager or the ARC Administrator.
