KWY is an award-winning Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation delivering culturally grounded programs that support Aboriginal people, families and communities to create positive, lasting change.
Since 2011, KWY has worked to break the cycle of domestic and family violence, strengthen family wellbeing, and reduce the overrepresentation of Aboriginal children in the child protection system. Our services span family support, youth work, men’s behaviour change, kinship care, reunification, social and emotional wellbeing, research, and workforce development.

About the position...
The Women’s Practitioner is responsible for the implementation and support of the women in the Kumangka Program providing intensive and therapeutic support, advocacy, and information.
The Women’s Practitioner will work within a multidisciplinary team to collaboratively assess risk and act as a first point of contact for families seeking support. The women’s practitioner will provide intensive and therapeutic support and clinical expertise for women who are experiencing domestic, family and sexual violence and other child protection issues.
The Women’s Practitioner is a highly experienced and competent worker with experience in complex case management. The Practitioner will deliver dedicated clinical and cultural services to women allocated within the service. The worker is responsible for contributing to improvements in the quality, safety and community needs-driven distribution of services that meet the needs of Aboriginal women and their families
Fixed-term contract for a period of 12 months.

The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience in delivering complex case management, trauma-informed and culturally responsive support to Aboriginal families, and be committed to cultural healing, self-determination and strengths-based practice. The applicant will possess a strong understanding of the impacts of domestic, family and sexual violence from a trauma-informed lens, knowledge of the child protection system and family safety principles.
