Job Description

Job Title: SMO Specialist Level 1 (Winter)

Department: Sundance Mountain Outfitters

Rate of Pay: $17/hr

Shift: 7 Days a Week. 8am – 5pm or 4pm – 9:30pm (winter only)

Must be available weekends and holidays

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

SUMMARY

SMO Specialist will be outgoing, engaging, and positive as they create an exceptional personalized service for rental and retail guests.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Handle working in a high paced atmosphere while still offering exceptional customer service, positivity, efficiency, and accuracy.
  • Uphold all Forbes service standards with every guest interaction.
  • Share Sundance's story of land preservation and environmental commitment.
  • Perform basic point-of-sale transactions including cash, credit, gift cards and vouchers.
  • Be friendly, outgoing, and have a passion for creating significant experiences for our guests.
  • Listen to guest requests and input and implement when appropriate.
  • Commit and adhere to resort & department service standards.
  • Effectively cross sell within SMO to include upgrade in rentals and cross selling retail.
  • Cross sell other Sundance departments and activities.
  • Balance helping guests with projects given by managers to maintain shop efficiency.

RENTAL & SERVICES

  • Accurately size and fit rental guests to appropriate ski, snowboard, or biking equipment while maintaining professionalism.
  • Exhibit basic knowledge of differences in levels and types of skis, snowboards, and biking equipment.
  • Ensure rental documents are signed and filled out completely 100% of the time.
  • Ensure appropriate waivers are completed by guests 100% of the time.
  • Use the guest's given information to accurately determine appropriate DIN setting for releasable bindings per manufacturer recommendations 100% of the time.
  • Assist guests in determining needs for basic repairs and tunes.

RETAIL

  • Maintain and organize the retail area ensuring retail displays are stocked and the area is free of clutter, dirt, dust, and debris.
  • Assist leadership in developing creative retail displays that fit the SMO décor and ambiance.
  • Apply basic knowledge of retail products to guide customers in their purchase to include pricing, sizing, fitness, and construction.
  • Learn and know about the current products carried in the retail area, including technology, and be able to guide guests to the best product for them.
  • Report on when any product becomes low or out of stock to leadership.
  • Assist Manager and Asst. Manager in running quarterly inventory and ensure accurate counts.
  • Ensure accurate inventory counts.
  • Ensure back stock storage areas are clean and organized.
  • Remain constantly attentive and engaged assisting guests, cleaning, stocking, and organizing the retail area.
  • Learn and exhibit knowledge about the current retail products sold in the shop to explain and sell them to customers.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Binding manufacturer certifications. Basic ski, snowboard, and bike maintenance certifications. All to be obtained during training.
  • Must stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 25 lbs. (50 lbs. occasionally). Requires close and color vision. Standing for 4+ hours per shift is expected.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older

WORK ENVIROMENT

Moderate noise level. Regular exposure to humidity and moving parts. Occasional exposure to heights, fumes, chemicals, and electrical risks.
