Windsor DZ Driver/Picker

Location: 4255 Sandwich Street, Windsor, Ontario
Position Type: Permanent Full-Time
Reporting: Operations Manager
Hours Tuesday to Friday, 5:30am start time
Rate: Drivers- $28.00/h. Pickers- $23.00/h

Responsibilities:
As a DZ Driver/Picker your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

• Safely operating the assigned commercial vehicle to collect various waste streams (yard waste, green bins and residential garbage) in a safe and efficient manner, and delivering the material to the appropriate depot (transfer station, landfill, compost facility etc.)
• Providing customers with reliable and high-quality customer service. Proper disposal of the waste streams is vital to the health and well-being of the residents of the community.
• Adhering to the collection and delivery schedule while following all relevant MWSI policies and procedures as well as legislation and regulations set out by the Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Environment as well as the by-laws of the Municipality in which you are working in.
• Working collaboratively with fellow employees, management, resident and members of the public in a polite and respectful manner at all times.
• Ensuring all waste receptacles that are emptied into the collection vehicle and placed back on the resident’s property, flipped upside down at the curb, in the same place that they were removed from.
• Completing in excess of eight hundred (800) residential stops per day and doing so safely.
• Supporting the success and performance of the contract as a whole by being a team player.
• Participate in other projects and provide constructive feedback as required.

What you should have:
• A DZ driver's licence with a safe driving record.
• A safety-first attitude with demonstrated safe working habits.
• An understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and your responsibilities as an employee within it.
• Flexibility with scheduling, as early starts, delayed finishes and on rare occasions, weekend work will be required.
• The ability to safely lift 50 pounds repeatedly, as this can be the weight of the material.

Escarpment Renewables is Miller’s Class 3 wet anaerobic digestion facility in Grimsby, Ontario where we convert organic waste into a CFIA-certified liquid fertilizer for local agricultural partners and renewable heat and electricity for the Ontario power grid.
