Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Systems Administrator to join our team at the mid to senior level. This role carries direct responsibility for managing and maintaining enterprise Windows and Linux server infrastructure, endpoint management systems, and virtualized environments. The ideal candidate brings proven hands-on experience, strong problem-solving instincts, and the technical depth to operate independently while collaborating effectively across teams.

  • Administer and maintain Microsoft SCCM/MECM infrastructure, including software deployment, patch management, operating system deployment, and compliance reporting.
  • Manage Azure Update Management (AUM) for hybrid and cloud-based patching strategies.
  • Develop and maintain task sequences, packages, and application deployments.
  • Design, implement, and manage complex Group Policy Objects (GPOs) across the enterprise Active Directory environment.
  • Develop and enforce security policies, user configurations, and desktop standards through GPO.
  • Perform GPO auditing, documentation, and optimization to ensure performance and compliance.
  • Implement GPO-based solutions for software deployment, security hardening, and endpoint configuration.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and support for Windows Server environments (2016, 2019, 2022, and future releases).
  • Perform server builds, configurations, upgrades, and migrations.
  • Monitor system performance, diagnose issues, and implement solutions to ensure high availability.
  • Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and related infrastructure services.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and support for Linux server environments (RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS, or similar distributions).
  • Perform server builds, configurations, upgrades, and migrations.
  • Manage Linux services including SSH, cron, system, NFS, and Apache/Nginx as needed.
  • Administer user accounts, permissions, and security configurations.
  • Implement patching, hardening, and compliance measures for Linux systems.
  • Administer Microsoft Universal Print and cloud printing solutions.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot print infrastructure for on-premises and hybrid users.
  • Manage print queues, drivers, and printer deployments across the organization.
  • Operate and maintain virtual machines within enterprise virtualization platforms (Hyper-V, VMware, or similar).
  • Perform VM provisioning, snapshots, resource allocation, and lifecycle management.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams on capacity planning and optimization.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 3-7 years of hands-on experience in Windows and/or Linux systems administration.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Other Job Specific Skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Group Policy design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
  • Solid experience with SCCM/MECM administration, including software deployment and patch management.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
  • Experience with Azure Update Management or equivalent cloud-based patching tools.
  • Proficiency with the Linux command line and Bash shell scripting.
  • Proficiency with PowerShell scripting for automation and systems management.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise print management, including cloud-based print solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with virtualization platforms such as Hyper-V, VMware, or Azure VMs.

Preferred

  • Microsoft certifications (e.g., AZ-104, AZ-800/801, or equivalent).
  • Linux certifications (e.g., RHCSA, LPIC, or CompTIA Linux+).
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or similar.
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes and enterprise ticketing systems.

Compensation ranges for ASM Research positions vary depending on multiple factors; including but not limited to, location, skill set, level of education, certifications, client requirements, contract-specific affordability, government clearance and investigation level, and years of experience. The compensation displayed for this role is a general guideline based on these factors and is unique to each role. Monetary compensation is one component of ASM's overall compensation and benefits package for employees.
