Job Description

Provides infrastructure support and technical direction and assistance throughout the institution by developing, managing and maintaining the Information Systems (IS) Windows server, desktop, laptop and thin client environments while assisting application teams and their customers. Provides 2nd and 3rd tier technical support to other IS teams where appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the proper management of the windows user environment.
  • Assists user support with their ability to add, change and delete users and reset passwords.
  • Facilitates the build process for desktops, laptops, tablets, and server images.
  • Configures various flavors for “restricted/locked-down” builds for the windows clients.
  • Reviews and controls disk space utilization.
  • Applies security updates, operating system patches, and major upgrades.
  • Defines and enforces Windows standards with server names, user names, login scripts and active directory group policies, security configurations, Windows domain names and intercommunications rules.
  • Works with application vendor to design and implement the technical infrastructure required to support the vendor’s application.
  • Develops and maintains an extensive virtual server environment across multiple data centers.
  • Develops operational procedures, depending on application.
  • Monitors and manages Windows servers with software tools. Adds/moves print queues to various print servers. Monitors and assists with backup procedures for Windows servers.
  • Develops the upgrade/phase-out strategy for obsolete equipment, assuring that the environment is always running on supportable infrastructure.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
  • Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field with a minimum of one year of experience in PC network administration, or the equivalent in education and experience required.
