Job Description

As a Wind Farm Control Development Engineer (m/f/d), you will contribute to the development and optimization of advanced wind farm control solutions that support the efficient and reliable operation of renewable energy assets worldwide. Working closely with international and cross-functional teams, you will drive technical developments from concept through deployment while ensuring compliance with grid requirements and customer expectations.

YOUR TASKS

  • Design and implement communication interfaces for wind farm control systems based on customer and project requirements
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve software solutions for the Nordex Wind Farm Controller
  • Validate control solutions in laboratory environments as well as during remote commissioning and testing of wind farms
  • Optimize communication performance, reliability, and operational efficiency across global wind farm fleets
  • Lead complex technical developments from concept definition through implementation and deployment
  • Collaborate closely with Control & Grid Code, Laboratory Test, and other cross-functional engineering teams
  • Provide 3rd-level technical support to ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of wind farm control systems

YOUR PROFILE

  • Degree in Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a comparable technical field
  • First experience with PLC programming according to IEC 61131-3 and software development using Matlab/Simulink
  • Solid understanding of PLC architectures, control algorithms, and industrial network technologies
  • In-depth knowledge of industrial communication protocols including Profinet, Modbus TCP/RTU, IEC 60870-5-101/104, DNP3, OPC UA, and Bluecom
  • Experience with renewable power plants and grid code compliance requirements
  • Very good English skills, both written and spoken; German and/or Spanish language skills are considered an advantage
  • Ideally, experience with IEC 61400-25, embedded code generation, real-time control systems, or hybrid power plants including BESS, PV, and hydrogen technologies
