Job Description

This position is based in Lake Benton in southwest Minnesota, working for the Lake Benton I wind farm. The rural setting offers small-town charm, a large lake for recreation or fishing, and horseback riding and hiking trails in the nearby Hole-in-the-Mountain Park on Buffalo Ridge. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Under limited direction, performs moderately complex preventative maintenance and repair activities consistent with policies and procedures on wind turbines.
  • Attends regular safety meetings and follows appropriate company safety and environmental policies.
  • Works within clearly defined standard operating procedures and adheres to quality guidelines.

Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:

  • Regularly works around moving mechanical parts, high places, particulate matter, and in any and all outdoor weather. Frequently faces electrical shock risks and occasionally encounter hazardous chemicals. The work environment is typically loud. Duties often require standing, using hands, reaching, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
  • Must be capable of lifting and/or moving up to 100 pounds.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
    • Preference may be given to applicants that have completed a wind technician training program.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Three years or more technical wind industry experience, OR in absence of technical wind industry experience, five years or more experience working with hydraulic, electrical, mechanical skills

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid Driver’s license required.
  • Must be able to meet the physical/mental/environmental demands of the position.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, manuals, blueprints, and schematics, and to write routine reports and correspondence. Able to follow written, oral, or diagrammed instructions and solve problems with several concrete variables. Proficient in basic math, including fractions and decimals.
  • Capable of working with minimal supervision in mechanical and electrical environments.
  • Successful completion of all training, education courses and/or skill level testing required by the Company for entry into this position.
  • Basic skill in the use of personal computers (i.e., Windows environment, word processing and spreadsheet applications).
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions for this position.
  • Skilled in the care and use of tools and equipment.
  • Must demonstrate good interpersonal, leadership, organizational and decision-making skills.
  • Regular attendance is required.
  • This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and/or aptitude.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

  • The expected hourly compensation range for this position is $32.20 - $40.40. Compensation offered to the selected candidate will vary depending on relevant knowledge, skills, training, experience, and market conditions.
