Job Description

What You Can Expect

As a Wind Technician I, you will support the operation and maintenance of the wind power facilities at the Big Sampson Wind Farm located near Iraan, TX by performing basic troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance on ENGIE’s wind turbines and associated equipment. You will also be a part of an on-call rotation for outages and emergencies; therefore, you must reside within 50 miles of the site to respond promptly to outages and emergencies.

Your Daily Responsibilities Will Include, but Are Not Limited to:

  • Filling out permits to work, job safety plans (JSPs), lock-out tag-out (LOTO) procedures, and performing Last Minute Risk Assessments (LMRAs)
  • Under the supervision of senior level technician, perform basic troubleshooting, preventative maintenance and repairs as needed
  • Climbing wind turbines (training provided)
  • Completion of daily reports and plan of day action items
  • Operate standard hand tools and electrical testing equipment (e.g., screwdrivers, wrenches, battery powered drills/impacts, multimeters, amp clamps)
  • Complete ENGIE’s Qualified Electrical Worker Competency Skills test, which requires you to adequately demonstrate the application of safety critical tasks when working with AC/DC electricity (hot-cold-hot testing, proper PPE use, application of circuit grounding)
  • Understand and execute ENGIE’s official job specific documentation, such as (LOTO) procedures, work instructions, and routine maintenance checklists
  • Create and close-out work orders generated in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Conduct site safety orientations to original equipment manufacturers (OEM’s) representatives, independent service provider’s (ISP’s), vendors, and site visitors.
  • Fully understating and implementing ENGIE’s Life Saving Rules and ENGIE’s Group Rules.
  • Accompany approved site visitors to ensure all individuals adhere to ENGIE’s safety and quality standards.
  • Perform (LOTO) and general supervision for non-ENGIE employees as needed
  • Maintain accurate parts and tooling inventory
  • Occasionally travel to other sites and/or training facilities to support operational needs and/or training(s), which could include overnight stays

What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum diploma or certification in a technical program where you have learned AC/DC electrical theory, understand reading blue prints and schematics, industrial electrical equipment. Military equivalent experience or two (2) years of experience and knowledge of Wind generation, Power Plant, or Substation Maintenance where you have working knowledge of industrial electrical or substation equipment including breaker, disconnects, transformers, contactors in lieu of a degree
  • Ability to climb a wind turbine (300+ feet)
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding switching orders
  • Available for on-call duties as required
  • A willingness to work night shifts and extended hours, often outdoors in extreme heat or cold
  • Readiness to walk, stand, kneel, or crouch for extended periods
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.

Additional Details

  • This role requires daily attendance at a worksite
  • Must be available to travel domestically to other plants for emergencies and assist with outages
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record; for the use of company vehicle, ability to drive to site locations
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies;
  • The position consists of 50% work indoors and 50% work outdoors depending on site needs; outdoor work may expose the employee to weather conditions

Compensation

Hourly Range: $24.66 - $37.81 USD hourly

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan and emergency or on-call pay.
