We’re Hiring – Wildlife Veterinarians!
There are careers, and then there are callings. At RSPCA Queensland’s Wildlife Hospital, we care for animals at their most vulnerable - the orphaned joey, the injured native bird, the displaced reptile, the silent casualties of urban expansion and environmental change.
Our wildlife veterinarians are the steady hands and clear minds behind every stabilisation, every surgery, every carefully considered welfare decision. This work is about restoration, giving native animals the best possible chance to heal, recover and return to the wild where they belong.
This work is demanding and deeply meaningful. In return, it offers something few careers can which is the privilege of contributing to conservation and supporting Queensland’s wildlife and ecosystems every single day.
About The Role
This is a hands-on clinical position within one of Queensland’s busiest wildlife hospitals. As a Wildlife Veterinarian, you will provide medical and surgical care to native wildlife, as well as pet birds and reptiles admitted to the hospital.
You will manage a varied caseload spanning trauma, medical and surgical presentations, working collaboratively with veterinary nurses, wildlife assistants, rescue teams, inspectors and external rehabilitators. The role includes maintaining high clinical standards, accurate medical records and contributing to student and graduate development within the hospital.
The environment is fast-moving and purpose-driven. Decisions are often time-sensitive, case complexity can vary significantly and patient welfare remains central to every action. This role contributes directly to achieving strong rehabilitation outcomes and supporting the hospital’s progression towards the highest standard of care.
What We’re Looking For
You are an experienced veterinarian with strong clinical judgement and confidence managing diverse and complex cases. You remain calm under pressure and approach decisions with a clear welfare-based framework.
You communicate professionally, work collaboratively and take ownership of your caseload. You are comfortable supporting students or junior team members and contribute positively to a high-performing team environment.
Above all, you are committed to maintaining high clinical standards within a purpose-driven wildlife hospital setting.
