The opportunity:

Valnet is seeking a highly analytical Wiki Platform Engineer to join our Fextralife brand. You will own the technical foundation of Fextralife, working with leadership to maintain and evolve our MediaWiki backend, build game-specific features, and shape the future of the platform.

Fextralife is one of the largest gaming wiki networks in the world, covering hundreds of titles from Elden Ring and Dark Souls to Diablo and Monster Hunter. Millions of players rely on our wikis for builds, guides, and game knowledge.

We’re building the next generation of our platform with smarter automation, better tooling, and deeply game-specific experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own and evolve MediaWiki infrastructure (extensions, templates, Lua/Scribunto, performance)
• Build game-specific features (maps, build tools, item databases, patch trackers)
• Develop Python-based automation for page generation, ETL pipelines, and QA workflows
• Extract, transform, and integrate structured game data (APIs, JSON/XML, community datasets)
• Build and maintain data pipelines powering wiki content and analytics
• Experiment with AI tools to accelerate content creation and enrichment
• Contribute to architecture decisions and own features end-to-end with minimal direction

Technical requirements:

• 5+ years experience
• Strong MediaWiki experience (PHP, extensions, Lua/Scribunto, JS/CSS, MySQL/MariaDB)
• Python for automation, APIs, and data pipelines
• Experience with APIs (Google, YouTube, IGDB, analytics systems)
• Strong SQL and understanding of MediaWiki database architecture
• Experience building or maintaining ETL/data transformation workflows
• Comfortable working on Linux-based systems

Technical assets:

• Front-end wiki UX (CSS/JS gadgets)
• BigQuery or large-scale analytics
• Technical writing / documentation for tools and systems
• Product thinking / user-centered design experience
• Passion for RPG and action games
• AI/LLM tooling experience
