The WIC Site Supervisor position requires a bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Nutrition, Dietetics, or a closely related field, along with a minimum of three (3) years of experience working within the WIC program. In lieu of a bachelor's degree, five (5) years of experience as a WIC Assistant Site Supervisor, combined with relevant college-level coursework in management, may be considered. Official college transcripts are required to verify educational qualifications. This position is responsible for overseeing all staff and the daily operations of the WIC site. The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Comprehensive knowledge of WIC program rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
- A strong foundation in maternal and child health
- Proven ability to coach and mentor staff using Motivational Interviewing and other evidence-based techniques
- Experience leading Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives to ensure high standards in nutrition and breastfeeding education and services
- Strong leadership, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- The capacity to develop innovative solutions and effectively lead a multidisciplinary team
Description of Duties
- Implement and monitor systems and procedures for the identification, scheduling, and certification of WIC participants
- Supervise WIC Assistant Site Supervisors, Nutrition Assistants, Breastfeeding Peer Counselors, and WIC Site Administrative Services Specialists, including training, coaching, and quality assurance activities
- Conduct employee performance evaluations and administer corrective or disciplinary actions as appropriate
- Coordinate and ensure the delivery of nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and health education services in accordance with program standards
- Provide ongoing guidance and technical support to staff regarding participant certification, customer service, and program service delivery
- Oversee WIC Card issuance, reporting, security, and storage in compliance with program requirements
- Conduct continuous quality assurance reviews of participant records in WIC Web Information System Exchange (WISE) in accordance with State and local agency protocols
- Monitor and ensure compliance with WIC WISE policies and procedures
- Ensure timely completion of required weekly and monthly operational reports, including WIC Card activity
- Conduct nutritional assessments for individuals undergoing WIC certification, including review of medical documentation to determine health risks and provide appropriate counseling and referrals
