Job Description

Community Progress Council is currently seeking qualified candidates for a Program Assistant role within our Women, Infants & Children (WIC) program We are looking for a passionate, personable, and highly professional individual who is committed to delivering meaningful, high-quality services to WIC participants and supporting the health and well-being of our community.

While the primary service area is York City, the role may also include assignments at surrounding York County clinics based on program needs. This position offers a meaningful opportunity to make a positive impact in the community through direct engagement and support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Services: Build meaningful connections with WIC applicants by guiding them through the eligibility process. Verify key information—including identity, residency, income, and voter registration—with accuracy, compassion, and attention to detail to ensure every client feels supported and respected.
  • Appointment Coordination: Deliver a welcoming and organized experience by managing client check-ins, responding to incoming calls, and scheduling appointments with efficiency, professionalism, and care.
  • Community Referrals: Serve as a trusted resource by connecting families to essential health and social services, helping them access the support they need to thrive.
  • Flexible Service Coverage: Primarily support the York City clinic, with opportunities to serve at satellite locations across York County—extending critical services to communities where they are needed most.

Essential Duties:

  • Commit to the vision and mission of Community Progress Council.
  • Greet clients and assign appointments to the appropriate team members.
  • Answer phones and schedule participant appointments.
  • Provide basic information on nutrition and health services.
  • Participate in meetings and continuing education programs.
  • Ensure compliance with documentation requirements for nutrition education services.
  • Promote and support breastfeeding among WIC participants.
  • Perform anthropometric and hematological measurements after training.
  • Travel to satellite clinics and perform Program Assistant responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of one year of experience in an office setting is preferred, showcasing your ability to thrive in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
  • High School Diploma or GED required. Candidates with clinical experience or coursework in nutrition are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Successful completion of all required background checks, physical, and TB test.
  • Bilingual Spanish, Haitian-Creole, or Arabic is desired.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to satellite clinics across York County are essential for consistent service delivery.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and a readiness to learn WIC-specific software systems.
