  • Maintenance division, agile small teams performing scheduled & emergency servicing & maintenance of cold rooms & freezers through Qld and NSW

About the Role

SBP Australia is looking for a proactive and experienced WHS Coordinator to support our teams in ensuring workplace health and safety compliance, across our projects Australia-wide.

Reporting to our WHS Manager, in this hands-on role, you'll be based at our head office in Salisbury, Brisbane with periodic travel to our projects across Australia, and play a vital part in maintaining and improving safety standards, conducting inspections, delivering training, and proactively managing risks and incidents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the WHS Manager and SBP leadership team in delivery of the WHS Plan.
  • Assist our teams in managing project / site WHS requirements, providing guidance and support with documentation such as Construction Safety Plans, Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), Project Risk Registers, and advice on compliance, training needs, emergency and incident response.
  • Conduct project / site audits, inspections, and risk assessments, and ensure appropriate action/s are implemented where gaps are identified.
  • Assist in project / site use of WHS processes, including use of enabling technology such as Breadcrumb and Procore.
  • Drive incident investigation and corrective or preventative actions with the responsible Manager / Supervisor.
  • Support proactive communication with the SBP team, contractors, and leadership on WHS matters.
  • Maintain WHS records and documentation, ensuring alignment with SBP Australia and client safety management plans.
  • Deliver training and upskilling to our team on WHS matters.
  • Continue the improvement, development and embedding of WHS Policy, and associated standards, systems, and business initiatives across all divisions and sites.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a WHS role within industrial construction environments
  • Strong knowledge of the Workplace Health and Safety Act, Codes of Practice, and industry standards
  • Excellent communication skills with confidence in engaging with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Experience and confidence using WHS management platforms such as Procore and Breadcrumb
  • Strong grasp of construction methodologies specifically relating to industrial and commercial construction, with the ability to understand and interpret drawings and design documentation advantageous.
  • Essential: WHS qualifications (minimum Cert IV in Work Health & Safety), First Aid Certificate, General Construction Industry Card
  • Preferred: Return to Work Coordinator qualifications & experience, Investigations qualifications & experience, auditing qualifications or experience
