The Opportunity

We’re looking for a proactive and experienced WHS Business Partner to help shape and strengthen safety across our organisation. In this role, you’ll be at the centre of driving a positive safety culture, improving systems, and ensuring our people go home safe every day.

You’ll work closely with leaders and teams across the organisation, providing practical, hands-on support across WHS, injury management, and return-to-work. This is a hands-on leadership role with the opportunity to influence safety strategy, manage complex claims, and support workforce capability through training and development initiatives.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading and improving WHS systems, processes, and safety frameworks
  • Partnering with leaders to provide practical WHS advice and support
  • Identifying and managing workplace risks across services and sites
  • Managing incident reporting, investigations, and follow-up actions
  • Driving workers’ compensation and return-to-work (RTW) outcomes
  • Supporting early intervention and safe return-to-work planning
  • Monitoring claims trends and improving WHS performance outcomes
  • Delivering WHS training and supporting capability across teams
  • Supporting emergency preparedness and workplace safety initiatives
  • Embedding WHS into organisational change, projects, and operations

What we’re looking for

  • Tertiary qualification in Work Health & Safety (Diploma or higher preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, regulations, and compliance requirements
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in WHS, workers’ compensation, and injury and risk management
  • Confidence managing RTW plans and complex workers' compensation claims
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills with the ability to interpret WHS data and trends
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement WHS systems, policies, and procedures
  • Strong organisational, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Return to Work Coordinator certification (or willingness to obtain)

Desirable:

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and/or experience delivering WHS training

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.

When it comes to training and research we partner with the very best. Our campus partners, the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute (MCRI) and The University of Melbourne Department of Paediatrics, along with the RCH Foundation, are on site with the hospital in Parkville.
