What you’ll be doing

As the Work Health & Safety Business Partner you will play a critical role in shaping, embedding and continuously improving the WHS framework across a complex, fast moving aviation environment.

This is a highly strategic partner role, providing expert advice, leadership and influence at senior levels of the business to drive safety performance, cultural change and regulatory excellence.

As a trusted advisor to Managers and Heads of Department, you will support the development and delivery of safety plans that strengthen WHS outcomes across the Group. You’ll operate at both a strategic and operational level, balancing compliance with practical, value adding solutions.

Reporting to the Head of People Safety you will:

  • Lead consultation on WHS matters and actively participate in resilience initiatives, including departmental bench strength programs
  • Ensure adherence to the Risk Management Framework by proactively identifying, mitigating and escalating WHS risks
  • Project manage the ongoing enhancement of the Group WHS Manual
  • Research and interpret WHS legislation, emerging issues and best practice, translating these into fit for purpose systems and standards
  • Design and continuously improve WHS standards, systems and processes using risk based methodology and deliver impactful strategies, training and educational material
  • Act as a WHS technical authority and key liaison with regulators
  • Partner with leaders to build WHS capability and fulfill due diligence obligations
  • Provide technical WHS expertise to assurance and incident investigation activities

You’ll be great in this role if you have…

  • Bachelor’s Degree in WHS or a related discipline (essential)
  • Minimum 5 years’ WHS experience within aviation, resources or energy sectors
  • Strong background implementing WHS systems and risk management programs in complex organisations
  • Proven experience in safety leadership, stakeholder influence and coaching
  • Experience leading and supporting incident investigations
  • Demonstrated capability in analysing and reporting safety metrics and trends
  • Exposure to multi-jurisdictional environments and WHS systems (intelex experience advantageous)
  • Deep understanding of WHS legislation, codes and standards
  • Ability to translate legislative requirements into practical operational solutions
  • Strong relationship‑building and communication skills, including experience working with unions and consultative groups
  • Experience in auditing, assurance activities and causal factor analysis
  • Advanced Microsoft Office capabilities
