Job Description

You are a strategic thinker passionate about driving solutions in Client Profitability. You have found the right team.

As a Client Profitability Close & Controls Associate within the Wholesale Client Profitability (WCP) team, you will coordinate end-to-end close execution from data readiness through client-level outputs. You will be responsible for running controlled transformations, validating methodology consistency period-over-period, and producing clear variance analysis that separates business, methodology, and data/timing drivers. You will maintain audit-defensible evidence and lead issue triage and escalations to ensure timely, accurate, and repeatable reporting.

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate month-end inbound data readiness across key providers, including expense baselines, revenue feeds, balance/exposure inputs, reference data, and client hierarchies.
  • Perform completeness and reasonability checks and document input issues, timing gaps, overrides, and escalations.
  • Run and monitor close production steps, including calculation runs, rule execution, and standard checks.
  • Validate transformation outputs against established WCP methodology and enforce consistent period-over-period application.
  • Partner with methodology owners to implement approved rule changes with traceability, effective dating, and controlled governance.
  • Oversee generation of client profitability outputs and standardized packs (e.g., revenue, expense, capital, ROE/SVA views) for wholesale stakeholders.
  • Produce variance analysis separating business drivers, methodology drivers, and data/timing drivers.
  • Maintain an audit-defensible close log including run evidence, checks performed, reconciliations, issues, approvals, and sign-off artifacts.
  • Lead issue triage and escalation management and communicate limitations and assumptions transparently to stakeholders.
  • Support internal reviews, ad-hoc deep dives, and documentation requests, including lineage confirmation and control evidence.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Demonstrate experience supporting month-end/period-end reporting processes, including input validation and controlled execution.
  • Apply strong analytical skills to perform reasonability checks, reconciliations, and driver-based variance analysis.
  • Communicate clearly with cross-functional partners to drive issue resolution, escalations, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Maintain rigorous documentation habits to support audit readiness, traceability, and repeatability.
  • Utilize advanced Excel skills to manage datasets, produce checks, and create clear outputs for stakeholders.
  • Use SQL or similar data interrogation skills to validate feeds, troubleshoot breaks, and support analysis.
  • Manage multiple timelines and dependencies with strong attention to detail and execution discipline.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Apply familiarity with profitability attribution concepts, allocations, and performance measurement (e.g., ROE, capital usage).
  • Leverage experience in client/product profitability reporting within wholesale or corporate banking contexts.
  • Utilize automation and workflow tools to reduce manual steps and improve close efficiency.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of data governance practices, including lineage, access controls, and change management.
  • Support controlled implementation of methodology changes, including effective dating and impact assessment.
  • Present executive-ready narratives that translate drivers and limitations into actionable insights.
  • Partner effectively across Finance, Product Control, Technology, and Data teams in a global operating model.
