RegularThe Whey Lead provides leadership and direction for whey team members in department operations and sanitation to meet internal and external customer needs and maintain high quality product standards.People are at the heart of everything we do. Your role in achieving results:

  • Ensure completion of the Master Sanitation Schedule for all whey department areas within the facility.
  • Be able to run all equipment within the department.
  • Verify product labels for accuracy and ensure all product is properly warehoused.
  • Ensure all whey department equipment functions correctly; working with maintenance department personnel to repair equipment and/or providing equipment down time for preventative maintenance.
  • Review and file all paperwork daily; completing corrective actions as needed.
  • Review all legal charts daily.
  • Receive and unload outside product as needed.
  • Loadout and fill BOL paperwork on outgoing loads of product.
  • Ensure accurate cutoffs for daily productions
  • Assist the department supervisors in product tracking.
  • Assist the department supervisors by completing whey department operator reviews as needed.
  • Monitor/observe operators for performance and safety, making suggestions as needed.
  • Help cover major department projects, sock changes and dryer CIP’s.
  • Assist engineering in department projects and upgrades as needed.
  • Assist with all state and USDA inspections.
  • Assist in covering operator absences/vacations; running whey department equipment as needed.
  • Attend regular facility and department meetings.
  • Troubleshoot and perform minor equipment repairs as needed.
  • Must be able to change schedule on short notice.
  • Safely and properly operate forklifts as needed.
  • Understand and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Safety Protocol
    • Stop any observed unsafe acts and obey facility safety rules and procedures.
    • Correct or report any observed safety hazards.
    • Support safety policies and programs.

What we are looking for to deliver these results:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum one (1) year of manufacturing experience required, preferably in a food/dairy environment.
  • Experience with troubleshooting equipment preferred.
  • Forklift Certification required.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Able to exchange basic informational data (fill out forms/checklists, copy data from one record to another, etc.); interview to gather information; advise others on alternatives/options; coach and counsel others; read, understand and explain technical data.
  • Decisions administered soundly and consistently with policies and in compliance with appropriate laws and regulations.
  • Results driven, bottom-line oriented, strive to exceed goals, and motivate self and others to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, adapt to a changing environment quickly, and think independently.
  • Able to provide current, direct, complete, and “actionable” positive and corrective feedback to others, identifying issues and taking appropriate action.
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational skills, establish priorities, ability to multitask, and meet deadlines.
  • Accurately scopes out length and difficult of tasks and projects, sets objectives and goals, breaks down work into the process steps, develops schedules and assignments, anticipates and adjusts for problems or roadblocks, measures performance against goals, evaluates results.
  • Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to management and coworkers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively at all levels in a collaborative team environment.
  • Basic computer skills with Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word, Outlook and field-specific software.
  • Exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others and work to maintain constructive working relationships.
