JOB DESCRIPTION

Wheel Alignment Technician

The role of a Wheel Alignment Technician is pivotal in ensuring the safety and optimal performance of vehicles. As a Wheel Alignment Technician, you'll be responsible for precisely aligning the wheels of automobiles according to manufacturer specifications. Your expertise will play a significant role in enhancing vehicle safety and extending the lifespan of tires, thereby contributing to customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Key Performance Areas

1. Tyre fitting and removal

• Mount new tires onto vehicle rims using appropriate machinery and tools, ensuring proper alignment and balancing.
• Clean and paint rims before fitting tyres.
• Fit wheels on to motor vehicles correctly.
• Match dual wheels correctly.
• Inflate tyres according to manufacturer’s specifications.
• Inflate tyres according to manufacturer’s specifications.
• Report any defects to the site supervisor e.g., studs, washers, and wheel nuts.
• Undertake pressure and torque checks.
• Torque wheel nuts to manufacture specifications.
• Brand tyres
• Apply safety standards.
• Appropriate and timely communication with relevant parties

1. Wheel Alignment

• Inspect vehicles for alignment issues.
• Identify wrong settings on vehicle.
• Operate the alignment machines to accurately measure and adjust wheel angles.
• Interact with customers to explain alignment findings and make recommendations.
• Set caster & camber according to vehicle specs.
• Set toe-in & toe-out according to vehicle specs.

1. Customer service

• Advise site supervisor on appropriate action, who subsequently assists the customers.
• Receive customers in a friendly manner and with a smile.
• Always be neat and presentable.

1. Housekeeping and asset management

• Handle tools with care
• Ensures work area and yard are always clean.
• Ensures machines and tools are always clean and stored correctly and safely.
• Ensures dressing rooms are always presentable and neat.
• Ensure company property is not damaged.

1. Health and Safety

• Adhere to Health & Safety standards in the workplace and do not endanger other parties.
• Comply with the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
• Ensure Personal Safety Equipment and facilities provided by the company are in good and clean condition.

1. Documentation

• Complete tyres change slips for wheel changes and hands them in timely.
• Prepares survey reports correctly and hands them in timely.
• Clocks in and out at correct times as per shift by correctly signing the time register.

General

• Undertake all reasonable requests and instructions, given verbally or in writing that falls within the parameters of own line of duty.

Minimum Requirements

• Standard seven or equivalent
• Basic English literacy
