About the role
Reporting to the Aviation Regional Manager, this leadership role is responsible for the safe, efficient and commercially sustainable operation of the airport, ensuring regulatory compliance, operational excellence and a positive experience for customers, airlines and stakeholders. Located in the Western Sydney Airport, this role will be operating on afternoon shift on rotating shifts.
Key responsibilities
Site Leadership & Safety Performance: Lead and develop a competent site operations team, ensuring training, authorisations and safety management systems are embedded, applied consistently and compliant against requirements.
Operational Excellence & Asset Integrity: Ensure the safe, reliable and compliant operation of JUHI, depot, hydrant, refuelling and associated infrastructure, maintaining asset integrity, quality assurance standards and accurate operational documentation.
Fuel Quality, Inventory & Service Delivery: Oversee aviation fuel quality management, stock control, product receipts and refuelling operations to ensure accurate, on‑time and high‑quality service for airlines and customers, including management of split contracts and participant balances.
Commercial, Cost & Project Management: Control operating costs through effective budgeting and expenditure management, while coordinating capital works, maintenance and improvement projects to enhance safety, reliability and efficiency.
Governance, JV & Stakeholder Engagement: Fulfil Site Manager and Joint Venture obligations, including compliance with operating agreements, audits, reporting, lease conditions and airport engagement, while representing the organisation with regulators, airlines and JV participants.
Planning and Organising: Works with full competence to plan, organise, prioritise and oversee activities to efficiently meet objectives. Typically works without supervision and may provide technical guidance.
Action Planning: Works with full competence to review and evaluate recommendations and requirements and to develop appropriate plans or deliver actions required. Typically works without supervision and may provide technical guidance.

Key skills and experience
Demonstrated experience managing budgets, controlling costs, optimising supplier performance, and operational outcomes.
Proven track record in leading operational performance, ensuring safe, efficient service delivery, business continuity, and achievement of strategic objectives.
Strong people leadership capability, with experience in supporting and motivating teams to translate business strategy into action and foster a high-performing, values-driven culture.
A current Medium Rigid licence is desirable and willingness to obtain a Dangerous goods licence
Ability to commit to a shift pattern roster on dayshift
Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships across internal and external networks.
Experience managing complex contract portfolios, negotiating service-level agreements, and industrial relations matters is desirable
Highly effective communication skills, with the ability to influence, engage, and communicate clearly across all levels of the organisation, both verbally and in writing.
Refuelling experience is desirable or willingness to obtain refuelling capability

Ampol supplies fuel to more than 110,000 business and SME customers in diverse sectors across the Australian and NZ economies, including mining, transport, marine, agriculture, aviation and other commercial and industrial sectors. Across our Australian and NZ retail networks, we serve approximately 4 million customers every week with fuel, convenience and EV charging products.
Our ability to service our broad customer base is supported by our robust supply chain and strategic infrastructure positions.
