Job Description

The Wellsite Geologist II provides geological support during drilling operations by interpreting wellsite data, monitoring geological services, and helping optimize wellbore placement. This role supports drilling, reservoir studies, and field development plans while ensuring accurate geological data collection, reporting, and communication with key stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Provide wellsite geological support during drilling operations.
  • Monitor and interpret geological data to support wellbore placement.
  • Supervise mudlogging, LWD, wireline, coring, and other geological service operations.
  • Ensure quality assurance of geological data acquisition and reporting.
  • Coordinate with third-party geological service vendors.
  • Support pre-drill planning and post-drill reporting activities.
  • Compile and distribute well completion reports.
  • Monitor abnormal pressure indicators and maintain pressure evaluation logs.
  • Generate detailed reports with observations, parameters, and geological interpretations.
  • Coordinate shipments of samples, logs, and reports after drilling.
  • Support interdisciplinary reservoir studies and field development planning.
  • Mentor and support less experienced geological staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology from a recognized institution.
  • Previous experience as a Wellsite Geologist.
  • Offshore drilling experience, including platform or deviated well drilling.
  • Experience with LWD, wireline, mudlogging, cuttings description, image logs, and lithology correlation.
  • Experience with directional drilling, well planning, depth control, and BHA understanding.
  • Experience with coring operations.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, coordination, and teamwork skills.
  • Must be physically fit and able to meet offshore health and safety requirements.
  • Current HUET, Sea Survival, and H2S certifications preferred/required, including OPITO-recognized training where applicable.
