The Wellness Specialist is responsible for delivering exceptional wellness and spa experiences through professional massage and body treatments or Ayurveda healing, yoga instruction, mindfulness practices, fitness and recreational activities, while supporting the daily operations of the Recreation & Spa Department.
As a supervisor-level position, the Wellness Specialist plays an active role in planning, coordinating and delivering wellness programme that promote physical, mental and emotional wellbeing for both guests and associates. The role serves as an ambassador of the hotel's wellness philosophy, encouraging healthy lifestyles through movement, relaxation, education and holistic wellness experiences.
The position combines hands-on spa therapy expertise with wellness instruction and operational support, ensuring a seamless and elevated guest experience across the spa, fitness, yoga, pool, beach and recreational areas.
Wellness Programmed Management
- Lead and deliver daily group and private yoga classes for guests and associates of all ages and fitness levels.
- Conduct a variety of wellness activities including Yoga, Meditation, Pranayama (Breathing Techniques), Stretching, Mobility, Mindfulness and Relaxation sessions.
- Adapt classes according to participants' fitness levels, medical conditions and physical limitations.
- Ensure proper instruction on posture, breathing, alignment and injury prevention.
- Develop, coordinate and implement seasonal wellness programmer, workshops and special events.
- Introduce innovative wellness experiences aligned with current industry trends and guest expectations.
- Promote wellness programmer throughout the resort to maximize participation.
- Support wellness retreats, corporate wellness activities and employee wellness initiatives.
Spa Therapy & Treatment Services
- Provide professional massage services to guest using approved techniques and products.
- Perform body treatments including body scrubs, wraps, Ayurveda, Hammam and hydrotherapy treatments according to established treatment protocols.
- Conduct appropriate consultation and assess guess needs prior to each treatment.
- Inquire about relevant contraindications, including allergies, medical conditions, high blood pressure, pregnancy and other factors that may affect treatment suitability.
- Adapt treatments where appropriate to ensure guest comfort, safety and satisfaction.
- Maintain current knowledge and skills in massage techniques, body treatments and relevant wellness modalities.
- Escort guest to and from treatment rooms and provide a warm, professional welcome throughout the guest journey.
- Arrange and prepare treatment rooms, workstations, equipment, products and draping prior to each service.
- Frequently check with guests throughout treatments to ensure comfort, safety and satisfaction.
- Maintain treatment schedules and ensure services start and finish according to the allocated treatment time.
- Support the Recreation Manager/Assistant in the daily operation of all Recreation & Wellness facilities.
- Supervise the daily operation of the Yoga Studio, Activity Centre, Fitness Centre, Beach and Pool areas.
- Ensure recreation and wellness facilities are clean, safe, organized and operating according to hotel standards.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures for recreation facilities.
- Monitor cleanliness, maintenance and presentation of all wellness and recreation areas.
- Ensure all wellness and recreation equipment is properly maintained, cleaned and safely stored.
- Report maintenance issues and coordinate repairs with the Engineering Department.
- Assist with beach and pool operations during peak periods, events or operational requirements.
- Ensure all safety signage, equipment and guest facilities are in place and operational.
Recreation & Wellness Operations
Guest Experience
- Welcome guests warmly and create a calm, inclusive and professional wellness environment.

- Prepare and coordinate weekly duty rosters in consultation with the Recreation Manager/Assisted.
- Monitor team productivity and ensure service standards are consistently achieved.
- Coach, mentor and provide on-the-job training to team members.
- Assist with onboarding and orientation of new associates.
- Support performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
- Promote teamwork, professionalism and a positive working environment.
- Assist the Recreation Manager/Assistant during their absence as required.
Administration
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly wellness and activity schedules.
- Maintain accurate attendance records and programmed participation statistics.
- Compile reports on class attendance, guest participation and programmed performance.
- Maintain inventory records for wellness equipment and supplies.
- Assist in monitoring departmental budgets and purchasing requirements.
- Prepare administrative reports and operational documentation.
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest emails and internal correspondence.
- Handle telephone enquiries following hotel communication standards.
- Maintain departmental records, filing systems and documentation.
- Coordinate bookings for private yoga sessions, wellness programmer and activities.
Health, Safety & Risk Management
- Ensure all wellness activities are conducted safely and professionally.
- Assess participants before classes and recommend appropriate modifications where necessary.
- Monitor participants during activities to prevent injuries.
- Respond appropriately during emergencies and provide First Aid within certification limits until medical assistance arrives.
- Ensure guests comply with all recreation and wellness facility rules and regulations.
- Conduct regular safety inspections of wellness facilities and equipment.
- Ensure emergency equipment is available and operational.
- Report accidents, incidents, hazards and unsafe conditions immediately.
- Maintain current First Aid, CPR and AED certifications.
Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure compliance with all hotel standards, policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Continuously evaluate wellness programmer and recommend improvements.
- Keep updated with industry trends, wellness innovations and best practices.
- Assist in developing and updating Recreation SOPs.
- Participate in training programmer and continuous professional development.
- Support departmental initiatives to improve guest satisfaction and operational performance.

Qualifications
Education
- Internationally recognized Yoga Teacher Certification (minimum 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training).
- Additional certifications in Meditation, Breathwork, Sound Healing, Pilates, Functional Training or Wellness Coaching are advantageous.
- Current CPR, AED and First Aid Certification.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years' experience as a Yoga Instructor, Wellness Instructor or Recreation professional in a luxury hotel, resort, spa or wellness center.
- Previous supervisory experience within Recreation, Wellness or Spa operations is preferred.
- Experience planning and conducting wellness programmer and recreational activities.
- Experience supervising teams and coordinating daily operations.
- Strong administrative and organizational experience.
