Job Description

Student Wellness Ambassadors are peer educators who educate and empower the Flagler community to grow in the 10 Dimensions of Wellness. They plan and implement wellness events and initiatives and collaborate with faculty, staff and students in programming that enhances student wellbeing. The Wellness Ambassadors are under the supervision of the Health & Wellness Department.

They promote a culture of health and wellness through educational programming and activities that support students in achieving their professional and personal goals. The groups’ mission is to provide holistic education and awareness programming opportunities, events, and resources based upon the 10 Dimensions of Wellness to promote healthy lifestyle choices and overall health and wellness.


1. Promote and facilitate wellness outreach and programming, including:
  • Support groups
  • Workshops
  • One-time events: Seminars, documentaries, speakers, panel discussions, community walks, active programs, etc.
  • Don’t Cancel that Class! Initiative
  • Poster campaigns


2. Research a topic within one of the fundamental areas of wellness and submit a proposal for a campus educational programming opportunity. These are: Physical, Social,

Emotional, Mental, Spiritual, Environmental, Financial, Intellectual, Career, and Digital

Examples include:
  • Alcohol/substance use education
  • Nutrition
  • Mental Illness diagnoses
  • Stress Management & Resiliency
  • Sexual Assault/Harassment
  • Grief/loss
  • Managing Screen Time
  • Harm Reduction Mindfulness Update and maintain a campus resource list regarding holistic wellness supports available to students


3. Update and maintain a community resource list regarding holistic wellness supports available to students

4. Enhance the efficacy and expand the reach of H&W’s educational efforts through collaboration with campus partners such as:
  • Student Leadership & Involvement
  • Residence Life
  • Greek Life
  • Office of Disability Resources
  • Student organizations (i.e. NAMI, SGA)
  • Title IX
  • Health Services
  • Athletics
  • Young Life
  • Campus Recreation

MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently enrolled as a Flagler College student in good academic standing
  • Have an interest in health and wellness issues and programming



CHARACTERISTICS PREFERRED:

  • Ability to provide positive team leadership and support the College’s Service Excellence philosophy.
  • Ability to multi-task and utilize good time management skills.
  • Ability to interact and develop positive working relationships with students, faculty and other staff.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an ever changing and, on occasion, emotionally charged work environment.
  • Ability to be compassionate for the safety and well-being of all Flagler College students as well as the campus community.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and to exhibit good judgment in making decisions consistent with College policy.




WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involved sitting most of the time and occasionally walking and standing.

Climbing, walking, crouching, repetitive motions, and ability to communicate appropriately with students/colleagues.

Student worker positions provide valuable on-campus employment opportunities that support departments while helping students develop professional skills. These roles are intended to enhance the student experience through meaningful work aligned with academic and career interests.
