Job Title:Wellfield Geologist

Department:Wellfield

Reports to:Wellfield Manager

Location:Florence,AZ

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Senior Geologist, the Field Geologist monitors andobserves welldrilling operations while logging necessary data, analyzing water samples, and characterizing the underground structure based on cuttings and drilling process results and observations.
  • The Field Geologist occupies a safety sensitive position and is responsible for assisting with wellfield data collection, hydrogeological characterization, and aquifer permit compliance activities.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Observe, monitor, and record assigned drilling operations.
  • Perform groundwater sampling and other wellfield data collection activities as required.
  • Characterize samples of drill cuttings and record geologic observations.
  • Perform aquifer permit compliance activities, including wellfield performance monitoring.
  • Assist as necessary with the preparation of technical reports.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications & Education:

  • Experience observing and recording well drilling operations and related activities is a plus.
  • Well drilling or geological logging experience would be beneficial.
  • Experience with wellfield sampling, analysis and monitoring is preferred.
  • Database/data logger experience is preferred.
  • Some familiarity with aquifer related regulations is preferred.
  • Must be able to effectively manage time, set priorities and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required, technical report writing experience preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology orequivalentfield is required.

Work Environment:

  • This position will work a rotating shift to support the oversight of the 24/7 wellfield drilling program.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, andlift upto 50 pounds.
  • Must work in compliance with the Florence Copper’s site safety program.
  • This position will include some office work, but a significant amount will be performed in all-weather conditions outdoors.
