Join our team at Waythrough and support people facing challenges around mental health, substance use, housing or domestic abuse. This is more than just a job – it’s a chance to build meaningful relationships and create lasting change.
About the Role:
We are looking for a passionate and motivated Wellbeing and Resilience Specialist to join our Branching Out team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting children and young people affected by parental or familial drug and alcohol use, helping them build resilience, improve emotional wellbeing, and achieve positive outcomes.
Working under the direction of the Team Manager and Service Manager, you will coordinate and develop Hidden Harm interventions and work collaboratively with wider drug and alcohol services, local partners, and community organisations across Calderdale.
You will lead the development of a wellbeing and resilience offer that supports children, young people, and families through a whole-family approach, helping to rebuild relationships affected by substance use while promoting long-term recovery and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate and develop the wellbeing and resilience offer within the Branching Out service.
Work directly with children and young people affected by substance use within the family.
Deliver a range of interventions including 1:1 support, group work, and community-based activities.
Support children and young people to improve emotional wellbeing, develop resilience, and better understand parental/carer substance use.
Promote positive opportunities within local communities including youth clubs, sports centres, and support networks.
Develop and maintain strong partnerships with children’s services, schools, safeguarding teams, and other local agencies.
Support the implementation of a whole-family approach using models such as Strengthening Families.
Ensure clear referral pathways and raise awareness of Hidden Harm support services across the locality.
Manage a caseload including assessments, care planning, risk assessments, and ongoing support planning.
Support, mentor, and supervise staff and volunteers where required.
Analyse service information and contribute to service development and continuous improvement.
Maintain accurate records and provide written and verbal reports as required.
Contribute to KPI performance and quarterly reporting requirements.
Ensure services are inclusive, accessible, and responsive to underrepresented groups.
Work flexibly across operational sites, including occasional evening and weekend working where required.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent/higher qualification), or willingness to work towards this qualification in post.
Knowledge of Hidden Harm and safeguarding practices relating to children, young people, and families affected by substance use.
Experience developing and implementing interventions and support plans.
Experience carrying out assessments, care planning, and risk management within a multi-agency framework.
Strong communication, organisational, and partnership-working skills.
Ability to analyse and report on management information.
Experience using Management Information Systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook programmes.
Desirable experience and qualifications include:
A relevant professional qualification such as counselling, social work, addiction studies, or therapeutic qualifications.
