Job Description

Well Intervention Engineer

Would you like to drive well intervention solutions that restore production, improve well integrity, and maximize asset value?

Are you passionate about developing technically sound and commercially impactful intervention strategies across the well lifecycle?

Join our Oilfield Services Team

At Baker Hughes, we are transforming the future of energy through innovative technologies and services. Our Oilfield Services business delivers integrated solutions that improve production performance, enhance well integrity, and optimize asset value throughout the lifecycle of a field. We partner with customers to address complex operational challenges through innovative well intervention, remediation, and abandonment solutions.

Fuel your passion

As a Well Intervention Engineer, you will be supporting development of well intervention concepts to restore production, improve injectivity, address integrity limitations, or prepare wells for abandonment. Well Intervention Engineer is expected to work from well files, production history, completion information, and senior guidance to help frame practical intervention options. Product-level depth across the full intervention portfolio is preferred but not mandatory; more important at this level is the ability to understand the design questions being asked, identify missing data, and support a disciplined comparison of intervention approaches.

As a Well Intervention Engineer, you will be:

  • Intervention concept support: Assist in defining intervention scopes for production restoration, injectivity improvement, integrity management, recompletion, stimulation, cleanout, and safe abandonment activities.

  • Well data review: Review well histories, completion diagrams, production trends, integrity records and intervention reports to identify constraints and opportunity areas.

  • Execution assumptions: Compile assumptions on rig or rigless access, downhole tools, intervention sequence, logistics, HSE exposure, and cost drivers.

  • Risk input: Document well access, integrity, downhole, pressure control, and operational risks for screening and proposal development.

  • Integration: Coordinate with production, reservoir, subsea, and facilities specialists to ensure intervention concepts are technically coherent and commercially practical.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • BSc in Petroleum, Mechanical, or Wells Engineering.

  • 5–8 years experience in well interventions, completions, production operations, or well integrity (Rigless and rig-based).

  • Working knowledge of downhole applications used for production restoration, injectivity improvement, integrity remediation, or abandonment support.

  • Ability to interpret well files and prepare concise intervention inputs for multidisciplinary proposals

  • Ability work in cross-functional teams

  • Open to collaborating in multi-cultural environments

  • Problem-Solving & Critical Thinking: Utilize logic, creativity, and reasoning to assess complex challenges and develop effective solutions
