
The Welding Foreman supervises
welding crews during offshore shutdowns, ensuring high-quality, code-compliant
welding of pipelines, structural components, and pressure equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
1.
Shutdown Execution:
o
Lead welders, fitters, and riggers in SMAW,
GTAW, FCAW processes for piping, vessels, and structural repairs.
o
Ensure WPS (Welding Procedure
Specifications) and PQR (Procedure Qualification Records) are
strictly followed.
o
Monitor pre-heat, inter pass temp, and
post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) as required.
2.
Quality & Compliance:
o
Enforce ASME B31.3, API 1104, and AWS
D1.1 standards.
o
Coordinate with QC Inspectors for NDT
(RT/UT/MPI/PT) and weld defect repairs.
o
Maintain welding logs, MTCs (Material
Test Certs), and traceability records.
3.
HSE Leadership:
o
Conduct toolbox talks, risk
assessments, and hot-work permits.
o
Ensure compliance with QatarEnergy
(QP) safety standards (PTW, LOTO, gas testing).
4.
Team & Resource Management:
o
Assign tasks to welders based on skill level
(e.g., 6G-certified welders for critical spools).
o
Manage welding consumables, equipment, and
repair timelines.
Qualifications & Experience:
·
Education: Diploma in Welding Engineering or Trade
Certification (e.g., AWS/CWI, CSWIP 3.1).
·
Certifications
(Mandatory):
o
CSWIP 3.2 (Senior Welding Inspector) or AWS
Certified Welding Supervisor.
o
BOSIET/HUET (Offshore Survival),
OPITO-approved H2S/BA.
·
Experience:
o
8+ years in oil/gas welding, with 3+
years offshore shutdowns.
o
Familiarity with QatarEnergy (QP),
Shell, or TotalEnergies shutdown procedures.
·
Technical
Skills:
o
Expertise in stainless steel, duplex,
and carbon steel welding.
o
Proficient in isometric/P&ID
reading, weld mapping, and SAP.
