The Welding and NDE team, within the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Organization, is accountable for New Technology Development, through planning and preparation activities combining practical welding work with higher-level technical duties including final industrialization on shop plants.

As a Welding &Material Science Engineer, you will be responsible for

  • Developing weldingbrazing, heat treatment techniques, procedures, and application of welding equipment to problems involving fabrication of metals, utilizing knowledge of production specifications, properties and characteristics of metals and metal alloys, and engineering principles.

  • Conducting research and development investigations to develop and test new fabrication processes and procedures, improve existing or develop new welding equipment, develop new or modify current welding methods, techniques, and procedures, discover new patterns of material and welding phenomena, or to correlate and substantiate hypotheses.

  • Developing FEM analysis on welding and thermal processes using most advanced simulation software.

  • Preparing technical reports as result of research and development and preventive maintenance investigations.

  • Establishing weldingbrazing procedures to guide production and welding personnel relating to specification restrictions, material processes, pre- and post-heating requirements which involve use of complex alloys, unusual fabrication methods, welding of critical joints, and complex post heating requirements.

  • Directing and coordinating technical personnel in performing inspections to ensure workers' compliance with established weldingbrazing/thermalprocesses procedures, restrictions, and standards.

  • Contacting personnel of other agencies, engineering personnel, customers or suppliers to exchange ideas, information, or offer technical advice concerning technical matters.

  • Performing experimental welding to evaluate new equipment, techniques, and materials.

Fuel Your Passion:

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Havematerial science andor welding engineering experienceor background

  • Have Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Material Science or Metallurgical Engineering from accredited University

  • Demonstrate ability to lead programs/projects.

  • Have good oral and written communication skills (English and Italian).

  • Have good interpersonal and leadership skills.

  • Have effective problem identification and solution skills.                      

  • Demonstrate initiative to stay abreast of technology advancements.

  • Demonstrate success in a cross-functional team environment.

  • Having International Welding Engineer/Technologist certification would be seen as an asset

  • Having a PhD in Material Science with specific focus/experience in Ni-based Alloys processing will be considered as a plus.

The initial pay range for this position will be EUR 31.494,00 - 51.000,00 .
The provisions of Contratto Collettivo Industria Metalmeccanica e della installazione di impianti will be applied to this position.Section VI – Titolo IV of that collective bargaining agreement relates to pay
