Seaspan’s Vancouver Shipyards, located in North Vancouver, is gearing up for an exciting and dynamic year. We are proudly constructing two 174-meter-long Joint Support Ships (JSS) for the Royal Canadian Navy—the longest naval ships ever built in Canada. Alongside this, we are completing the Offshore Oceanographic Science Vessel for the Canadian Coast Guard, their largest and most advanced science vessel to date.
We have also start working on the Canadian Coast Guard’s new heavy Polar Icebreaker, one of the world’s largest and most complex icebreakers. These landmark projects, combined with the design, engineering, and construction of additional vessels for Canada in the years ahead, promise decades of long-term job stability and growth in the shipbuilding industry.
Welders have a major role in the shipbuilding industry. Ships of this size and complexity require the deposition of large amounts of high-quality weld to ensure the structural integrity of the ship while at sea and to ensure the integrity of the many different systems required to make the ship operate at its maximum output. Welders utilize FCAW, SMAW, GTAW, and SAW processes as well as some automated GMAW/MCAW equipment to complete these high-quality welds. To satisfy this demand, Seaspan is seeking Red Seal Qualified Welders and/or Welders with multiple years of welding experience in heavy manufacturing and/or pressure welding. Now is the best time to be part of Canada’s shipbuilding industry! Join us and be part of the regeneration of the shipbuilding tradition and become a member of a talented, diverse team that is forging a bright future for Canadian shipbuilding at one of the most modern shipbuilding at in North America.
