The primary role of theWelder Helper Pre-Apprenticeis toassisttheweldingdepartment by performing housekeeping and entry levelduties asto maximize the output and efficiency of theJourneypersonandApprenticeWelders.
Roles & Responsibilities
Assisttrades people,leadand/orsupervisor with responsibilities pertinent to progress of project in a safe manner
Familiarize self with and/or request training concerning new small/hand-held equipment
Operation of cuttingsawand small tools in the department
Maintain small/hand-held equipment in good working order and notifyleadorsupervisor of malfunctions
Assistanceand compliance with company inventory requirements
Unloading products received and loading finished products for delivery
Shop hygiene and 5-S program
Inspect large equipment to ensure good working order and notifyleadorsupervisor of malfunctions
Notify theleadorsupervisor of any unsafe conditions, practices and/or procedures observed
May berequiredto move materials with forklift or overhead crane if trained and authorized
Performs all dutiesin accordance withSilent-Aire Limited Partnership safety program standards and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations, and Code.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Completion of high school or equivalent education (additionaleducation or apprenticeship program which compliments the laborer’s performance is preferred).
Experience with all safe practices, procedures, and overall processes associated with manufacturing, from raw materials to finished products.
Working Conditions
Commercial/Industrial environment.
Manual dexterityrequiredtousenecessary tools.
Exercise caution, as the environment presents many naturally occurring hazards.
Always adhere to safety policies (wear protective equipment).
