Job Shift: DayWe are looking for a highly skilled Industrial Refrigeration Welder to support the fabrication, installation, and maintenance of industrial refrigeration systems. This role involves working with pressurized piping systems, including ammonia and CO₂-based refrigeration, requiring exceptional safety standards, technical proficiency, and precision welding skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate and weld refrigeration piping systems including carbon steel and stainless steel using GTAW (TIG), SMAW (stick), and MIG processes.
- Read and interpret complex blueprints, isometric drawings, P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), and work orders.
- Install, maintain, and repair refrigeration systems, including compressors, evaporators, condensers, and piping infrastructure.
- Conduct x-ray quality welds for high-pressure ammonia refrigeration systems.
- Perform hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure testing on welds and piping.
- Work closely with engineers, pipefitters, and refrigeration technicians on layout and design modifications.
- Ensure compliance with ASME codes, IIAR standards, and OSHA safety regulations.
- Maintain tools, welding machines, and safety equipment in excellent condition.
- Maintain detailed records of welding procedures, inspections, and safety checks.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as an industrial welder, preferably in refrigeration or HVAC piping systems.
- Proficiency in GTAW (TIG) and SMAW welding, particularly on high-pressure piping.
- Solid knowledge of IIAR standards and best practices for ammonia refrigeration systems.
- Experience with orbital welding (optional but preferred).
- Familiarity with pressure vessels, refrigeration cycles, and heat exchange systems.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, on scaffolding, and outdoors in varied conditions.
Education and Certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a welding apprenticeship or vocational welding program.
- Certified Welder (CW) credential from AWS (American Welding Society) preferred.
- IIAR certification or RETA training (Refrigerating Engineers & Technicians Association) is a plus.
- OSHA 10 or 30-hour safety certification preferred.
