Job Description

Under the supervision of the next level Supervisor, the Welder/Fabricator will be a key member of the cross-functional Fabrication team. This team is responsible for fabricating products within a world-class manufacturing system. The Welder/Fabricator will be accountable for all aspects of open table fabrication, including handrailing, balcony, and staircase assemblies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of functions and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  1. Plan and prioritize job tasks based on provided schedules.
  2. Utilize prints, job orders, and projections to fit-up weldments to specifications.
  3. Gather all materials as required for the weldment
  4. Select and execute the appropriate TIG or MIG welding process based on material and project requirements.
  5. Clean and prepare surfaces to be welded; set up, assemble, and tack weld parts.
  6. Fabricate by cutting, prepping, and welding various metals.
  7. Straighten and manipulate weldments to meet provided tolerances.
  8. Collaborate with other team members within the Fabrication Cell to ensure efficiency and quality.
  9. Identify and communicate any job-related challenges to the appropriate team members or leadership.
  10. Coordinate work with upstream cells to ensure seamless workflow.
  11. Maintain an organized, clean, and safe working environment, adhering to company and OSHA safety guidelines.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  1. High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  2. Technical degree in welding or a related field (preferred).
  3. 3-5 years of demonstrated experience in TIG and/or MIG welding, with a focus on steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.
  4. Strong mathematical proficiency, particularly in geometry and trigonometry.
  5. Experience in stainless steel fabrication, blueprint interpretation, and fit-up welding.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  1. Competence in reading, analyzing, and interpreting blueprints and technical specifications.
  2. Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve welding process challenges.
  3. Proficiency with measurement tools, including rulers, tapes, calipers, and protractors.
  4. Skilled in the use of overhead cranes, aerial lifts, forklifts, and pneumatic/electric hand tools.
  5. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  6. Detail-oriented with experience in accurate labeling and quality assurance processes.
  7. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

The role involves regular activities such as standing, using hands to handle or feel objects, and engaging in verbal communication. Occasional physical activities include sitting, walking, reaching with arms, as well as stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Specific vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The position may also require lifting or moving items weighing up to 55 pounds on an occasional basis.
