Job

Summary: The Welder II performs more complex welding tasks with minimal supervision. This role requires proficiency in multiple welding techniques and the ability to work from detailed blueprints and specifications. Welder II team members contribute to project execution, mentor junior welders, and uphold quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities/Job Duties:
- Weld components in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications.
- Operate and maintain welding equipment and tools safely and efficiently.
- Conduct quality checks and make necessary adjustments to ensure compliance with standards.
- Train and mentor Welder I team members to support skill development.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely and accurate project completion.
- Complete assigned tasks promptly and accurately under the direction of supervisors or lead welders.
- Demonstrate intermediate understanding of fabrication requirements and company expectations related to complete package assembly.
- Follow instructions for project changes or job duties as directed by supervisors.
- Fabricate or prepare parts using grinding, cutting, drilling, tacking, or welding techniques.
- Fit-up sub-assembly parts and complete weld-out within standard timeframes.
- Produce clean, visually acceptable welds with minimal need for grinding or buffing.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly store tools after use.
- Accurately complete timecards and job assignment documentation.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

QualificationsRequirements:

Welding Proficiency:
- Must successfully pass a 1G and 6G MIG weld tests.
- Working toward passing the 1G TIG weld test. (If a 6G test is passed in a particular process, then the 1G is not necessary.)
- Demonstrates advanced fit-up ability as evaluated by supervisor or QC.
- No weld leaks for a minimum of 90 consecutive days.
- Advanced understanding of welding machine settings and alignment with WPS.
- Welds must be visually acceptable and mostly clean prior to any grinding or buffing.
Technical Knowledge:
- Advanced ability to read and interpret shop book drawings and welding symbols.
- Applies intermediate to advanced knowledge of welding machine settings per WPS.
- Accurately uses measurement tools such as tape measures, levels, and calipers.
- Basic mathematical skills relevant to welding tasks (e.g., measurements, angles, tolerances).
Education and

Experience:
- Completion of at least a 1-year formal apprenticeship or welding training program, or
- Completion of a 2-year welding program from an accredited institution (may substitute 2 years of related experience for 1 year of education; substitution does not count toward experience requirement).
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant welding experience, with no more than a 1-year gap in welding activity.
- Experience in lieu of education will be considered.
Physical Requirements:
- Manual dexterity and stability are sufficient for precision welding tasks.
- Ability to see fine details at close range.
- Capable of lifting at least 50 pounds.
- Physically able to navigate the work environment, including climbing, balancing, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.
- Use of PPE is mandatory.
- May involve overtime work depending on operational needs.
