Job Description

PPS is seeking a detail-oriented Welder I to join our team in Chandler at our state-of-the-art semiconductor facility! This position comes with a highly competitive pay rate, second-to-none benefits, and a high ceiling for growth!

The Welder I joins, fabricates, and repairs metals and other wieldable materials with precision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs welding activities with minimum instructions and supervision.
  • Sets up welding equipment in accordance with the appropriate Weld Process Specifications (WPS).
  • Completes weldments to the applied AWS welding code and blueprint requirements.
  • Utilizes material handling equipment in conjunction with the welding task.
  • Performs minor maintenance on job related equipment.
  • Assumes responsibility and care of assigned tools and equipment.
  • Observes and practices safety procedures and policies.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Attendance is an essential job function.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of TIG/MIG welding procedures & processes.
  • Experience working with steel, aluminum, and stainless steel preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret written information and follow directions.
  • Ability to perform welds that pass a visual inspection and destructive test.
  • Ability to use measuring tools (tape measures, squares, rulers, and dial calipers).
  • Basic math skills; must be able to perform conversions and basic calculations.
  • Knowledge of welding machines and set up.
  • Ability to operate hand/air tools and electric grinders.

Educational/Certification Requirement:

  • High School diploma or equivalent experience.

    Work Experience:

  • 1+ years of experience in welding.

    Work Environment:

  • Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing environment.

    Physical Demands:

  • Ability to exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move object.
  • Prolonged standing and bending intermittently during work hours.
  • Is subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to move arms, hands, and fingers to type.
  • Close vision required.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push, pull, grasp.

Environmental Exposure:

  • May involve exposure to noise hazard area.
  • Required to wear PPE where applicable.
  • The worker has protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
