Responsibilities:

  • Identifyand welddifferent typesof metals andsteel;

  • Work independently or in a teamenvironment;

  • Read and interpret fabrication drawings and produce rough sketches (abbreviations, symbols for welding/assembly, tolerances) and civildrawings;

  • Operate job-related equipment (cut off saw, ironworker, hydraulic presses, shears, drill presses, torches, oxygen lances, pneumatic/power actuated tools, & plasma cutters);

  • Fabricate and weld both small and largefabrications;

  • Handle, transport, and process product and materials usingequipment;

  • Inspect raw materials and finished product to meetspecifications;

  • Operate and inspect material handling equipment (such as overhead & mobile cranes) and light mobile equipment (such as forklifts, pickup trucks);

  • Assistwith the maintenance or repair ofequipment;

  • Fit and assemble simple as well as complexassemblies;

  • Good housekeeping practicesat all times, to help maintain safe work areas for yourself and your coworkers.

Job Qualifications

  • 456A Industrial Welder Certificate of Qualification is a strong asset

  • Ability to obtain TSSA 6G certification using SMAW

  • Strong print reading and fabrication skills

  • Valid or previously held TSSA 6G or CWB SMAW all position certification

  • Experience in SAW, FCAW, GMAW or TIG processes is preferred

  • Minimum of 2 years in an industrial environment with experience in fabricating

Job Skills and Knowledge

  • Temperature Tolerance: The ability to withstand extremetemperatures;

  • Reaction Time: The ability to quickly respond to processupsets;

  • Static Strength: The ability to exert significant muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carryobjects;

  • Trunk Strength: The ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time, including bending andstooping;

  • Dynamic Strength: The ability to exert muscle force at intervals throughout a work shift. This involves muscular endurance and resistance to musclefatigue;

  • Agility: The ability to negotiate different areas of the plant, including climbing stairs and ladders, and moving aroundbarriers;

  • Manual Dexterity: The ability to quickly move and react.

Work Environment

  • The job is within a heavy industrialenvironmentand you maybe requiredto work within various areas of the facility. Depending on the area you work in, the environmental conditions may be hot, cold, dirty, dusty,wetornoisy;

  • Safety is our highest priority, and safety procedures and guidelines must beadhered to at all timesThis includes wearing personal protective equipment, such as hard hats, eye protection, hearing protection, respirators, flame retardantclothingand safety shoes with metatarsal protectionat all timesduring a workshift;

  • Employees work in a unionized and heavy industrialsetting;

  • Our Lake Erie facilityoperates24 hours per day,365days;

  • Expected work schedule is12 hourshifts, rotatingdaysand nights on a continental pattern;

  • You maybe requiredto work different days of the week each time you rotate shifts including weekends andholidays;

  • The position requires you to work overtime asneeded;
