Welder (Cage)

Work Location:

• The physical location for this position is the home base at our equipment yard in Harpersville, AL., or be assigned to a jobsite as the business needs demand. The ability to travel and adapt to different job sites is essential so welders must be prepared to work in various geographical locations and conditions.
• This position is anticipated to start at our Lacassine, Louisiana location.

Role: The Welder is responsible for cutting and joining pipe and other metal at company facilities and construction job sites. The role involves operating appropriate equipment with precision and working in conjunction with the process of installing deep foundations and piling structures.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Cut and join pipe and other metal at company facilities and construction job sites
• Operate appropriate welding equipment with precision
• Work in conjunction with the process of installing deep foundations and piling structures
• Use a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MMA, etc.)
• Comprehend blueprints and drawings
• Understand measurements to plan layout and procedures
• Determine the appropriate welding and cutting equipment or method
• Operate angle grinders to prepare parts to be welded
• Align components using required devices and clamps
• Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions
• Repair machinery and other components with weld as required
• Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures to discover flaws
• Maintain equipment
• Adhere to company policies, state, and federal regulations

Position Requirements:

• Competency in the use of a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MMA, etc.)
• Ability to comprehend blueprints and drawings
• Understanding of measurements to plan layout and procedures
• Knowledge of different types of metal and their properties
• Professional certification is preferred

Preferred Experience

• Preference given to candidates with good references and a minimum of five years of experience that meets or exceeds performance expectations

Other Qualifications:

• Must be able to work a flexible work schedule during the busy season
• Must be able to work late or irregular hours
• Previous knowledge of construction and construction products is helpful
• Must understand and maintain the internal and external customer service responsibilities of the position

Education and/or Experience:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Must have a Class B Driver’s License

Physical Requirements

• Constant sitting, reaching, and grasping
• Occasional lifting, carrying, walking, and climbing
• All aspects of vision are required – acuity, depth perception, and field of vision
• Ability to talk and hear is important for communication between co-workers on safety and operational matters affecting equipment operations

• Suitable work pants with no holes
• 25-foot tape measure
• 12-inch adjustable wrench
