Job Description

Mid-Atlantic Truck & Equipment

Welder | Chesapeake, MD

We’re looking for a skilled, motivated Welder who takes pride in owning a project from start to finish. If you enjoy getting your hands dirty, solving problems, and bringing worn or damaged equipment back to life, we want to hear from you!

At Mid-Atlantic, you’ll handle the full welding and fabrication process—from assessing the job and preparing materials to welding, grinding, finishing, and getting the equipment ready to return to service. You’ll work on a variety of projects where your experience and craftsmanship make a visible difference.

This is a great fit for someone who enjoys variety, independence, and seeing the results of their work rather than repeating the same task every day.

Ready to GEAR UP for success? Join a team where your welding and fabrication skills make a real impact.

We offer perks like:

  • $250 Quarterly Tool Allowance
  • $200 Annual Boot Allowance
  • Work-Life Balance: Monday–Friday schedule from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Company-provided uniforms
  • Competitive Hourly Pay (NO FLAT RATE)
  • Ongoing training and professional development

As a Mid-Atlantic Welder, you won’t just be fixing and fabricating—you’ll be part of a team that keeps equipment running strong.

Benefits:

  • Competitive pay based on experience and skill level, ranging from $25–$35 per hour.
  • Skill level is assessed by the hiring manager during the in-person interview.
  • Excellent benefits, including Medical, Dental, Vision & more
  • Generous Paid Time Off: Accrue two weeks of PTO during your first year
  • 401K with company match
  • Employee referral program
  • Employee assistance program

As a Welder, you will:

  • Weld, repair, and fabricate used equipment as needed
  • Maintain a safe and organized workspace
  • Take initiative and complete tasks independently
  • Perform other welding-related tasks as assigned

What qualifications are we looking for?

  • Strong hands-on welding and fabrication experience
  • Experience repairing used equipment
  • Must have your own tools, including a welding helmet
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a DOT physical
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to frequently kneel, bend, squat, push, pull, and reach
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs. without assistance
  • Must be able to get into and out of various vehicles without assistance
  • Must pass a DOT physical including drug screening
  • Comfortable working in small or tight spaces

Communication Requirements:

  • This position requires the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to safely perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Effective communication is necessary to understand and follow safety procedures and instructions, communicate with customers and team members, and complete required job-related documentation.

We are an equal employment opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.

About Mid-Atlantic Truck & Equipment

The Beginning

Founded in 1985 by Rich Hood, Mid-Atlantic Waste Systems began in a modest office in Centreville, Maryland. Together with his wife, who was his first office manager and bookkeeper, Rich moved their office to Easton, Maryland in 1988, which subsequently became the Corporate headquarters location. In 1993, the Company opened an additional facility in Clinton, MD and continued a pattern of growth from that point on.

Today, Mid-Atlantic Waste serves customers with (8) eight fully staffed service locations in the Mid-Atlantic region. These facilities include Easton, MD; Clinton, MD; Chesapeake, VA; New Castle, DE; Salem, VA; Pittsburgh, PA; Manassas, VA; and Hampton, VA.

The Vision

Rich envisioned a company that would offer its customers superior quality in products, service, and parts. This vision has allowed the Company to grow to over 100 employees in eight offices. From the beginning, the Company’s purpose was not just to sell the best waste recycling products in the world but to give each customer outstanding quality, value, and service. At Mid-Atlantic Waste Systems, we strive to take care of the needs of our customers throughout the entire ownership process.

The Future

Mid-Atlantic Waste Systems would not exist without creating value for our customers through top-quality products combined with knowledgeable and committed employees. MAWS continues to find new and innovative ways to stay on top of current trends in the waste industry so as to bring fresh ideas to our customers. We appreciate the confidence and trust our customers have given to us over the past 38 years and will work hard to maintain that trust over the next 38 years.
