Job Description

Waste Connections has an immediate opening for a Welder / Container Repair position. In this role, you will perform a variety of hands‑on tasks, with primary responsibilities including welding, fabrication, container repair, and compactor maintenance This is a full‑time, long‑term opportunity with a stable, growing company.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform welding and fabrication repairs on garbage containers, roll‑offs, and compactors
  • Complete metal repairs on fleet equipment as needed
  • Perform compactor repairs and structural welding
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with corporate safety and OSHA standards
  • Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures
  • Accurately document parts usage and repair times
  • Communicate repair needs clearly and work effectively as part of a team
  • Assist with roll cart or container support as needed

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT

  • Position requires extensive physical activity, including lifting, pushing, or pulling objects over 50 pounds
  • Work is performed indoors in a shop and outdoors in the yard, depending on repair needs
  • Environment is typically well‑lit and ventilated but may require working in awkward positions or handling greasy or dirty tools
  • Adherence to all safety precautions is required at all times

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • 2+ years of welding experience OR Technical College certification in Welding
  • Proficiency in the following welding processes (all positions):
  • SMAW (Stick Welding / Shielded Metal Arc)
  • GMAW (Gas Metal Arc / MIG)
  • FCAW (Flux‑Cored Arc Welding)
  • Ability to read and understand technical and service information
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to meet pre‑employment requirements
  • Experience with electrical and hydraulic systems is a plus
  • Ability to obtain a Class B CDL with air brakes endorsement
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
