PRIMARY FUNCTION (job summary/purpose)
The Welder 1 uses equipment to joint metals. The welder or welding operator shall visually inspect for weld defects before releasing material to the next station.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (required):
● High school diploma or equivalent.
● Completion of required GMAW welding training and on-the-job training (OJT) by department & station within 80 hours plus OJT. If required for workstation, completion of a welder/welding operator performance qualification to one or more Welding Procedure Specifications (WPQ/WOPQ).
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
● Must be able to operate within a fast-paced, collaborative, and where teamwork is essential, requiring flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
● Working around moving machinery/heavy equipment
● Comfortable performing tasks in heated areas (around furnaces)
● Operate machinery in a hot and humid production facility
● Must wear proper PPE (steel-toed boots, safety glasses, ear plugs, welding PPE and any additional PPE required for task being performed)
