Position Summary

The Weighmaster is responsible for managing the shipping and receiving of crude and other products, approves truck loading and offloading, monitors loading racks, and reports discrepancies on manifest paperwork to the Refinery Accountant or Controller. This role is responsible for operating and maintaining equipment, completing training modules on pumps and process safety, documenting all reports and records, and ensuring proper product formulation. The Weighmaster reports directly to the Shift Supervisor and completes essential duties in the Operations department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Properly manages the Shipping and Receiving of Crude, light product of Naphtha, and Light Diesel Oil (LDO).
  • Runs samples, and enters proper temperature and gravity on product.
  • Properly gives approval on when trucks are to load and off load.
  • Monitors the loading racks by sampling crude and ensuring the truck drivers properly offload.
  • Reports manifest on weigh in/out off-loads including ticket or receipts from Drivers accurately.
  • Reports any discrepancies to on manifest paper work on daily basis to the Refinery Accountant or Controller.
  • Operates lines, pumps, valves - their locations & functions, all electrical switches/controls - their locations & functions, all steam water, gas, lines, valves, gauges, and their locations /functions, all emergency cutoff switches, their locations & functions.
  • Completes inter-active training modules on Pumps & Process Safety including Lockout/Tag-Out procedures.
  • Documents all reports, records, and information concerning daily activities to shift supervisor.
  • Maintains sufficient training progress including classroom training, job specific training, and inter-active training modules on Piping, and valves.
  • Completes proper formulation of all products according to department work flow protocol.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D) required.

Years of Experience: 0-1

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of principles and facts related to the production, processing, storage, and distribution of manufactured and agricultural goods.
  • Skill in watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Skill in performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • Skill in developed capacities used to design, set-up, operate, and correct malfunctions involving application of machines or technological systems.
  • Ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
