Under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Director, the Weekend Maintenance staff member is responsible for supporting facility operations at the Allison Cassens Early Childhood Development Center, Meyer and Niebur Centers. This position works on Saturdays and Sundays, averaging approximately 12 hours per weekend. This position helps maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment during weekend hours, ensuring a professional, respectful, and positive atmosphere for all members, participants, and guests.

Essential Functions:

1. Performs general weekend facility support tasks, which may include meeting and program setup and takedown, minor repairs, groundskeeping, and other maintenance and custodial responsibilities as needed.
2. Records and reports all needed repairs and completes basic repairs as directed.
3. Ensures YMCA buildings and property are secure during weekend shifts and promptly reports incidents and hazardous conditions to the supervisor.
4. Cleans and sanitizes assigned areas at the Allison Cassens Early Childhood Development Center, Meyer and Niebur Centers including duties such as mopping, dusting, and trash removal.
5. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and pass a pre-employment physical.
6. Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
7. All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Six months or more related experience is preferred
2. Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents
3. Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals as well as their safe and efficient uses.
4. CPR/First Aid certification or obtain within 30 days of hire.
5. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups and social and economic segments of the community.
6. Excellent judgment and decision-making skills
7. Must be able to work weekends (Saturday and Sunday), approximately 12 hours a weekend.

• Work will be performed indoors and outdoors and may require occasional travel.
• Must have visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to respond swiftly in an emergency situation.
• Ability to erect and stand on ladders and platforms at heights up to 30ft
• Ability to work with paint, cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray, and aerosol forms
• Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform position functions
• Must be able to coordinate a variety of large and small tasks simultaneously
• Must be able to handle stress and tension in a positive manner
• Ability to work in conditions that will create dirt and dust
• Ability to perform essential maintenance to facility or equipment which may involve, but is not limited to the following activities: semi-reaching to full-reach overhead, crouching, kneeling, shoveling, carrying, working in narrow and/or confining spaces that may be underground, overhead or at ground level. Twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs and lying on the stomach and/or back.

Salary Description
$20/hour
