FirstLight Home Care of Greater Lansing & Brighton

We are seeking a highly skilled and dependable Caregiver–Administrator for a critical after-hours leadership role. This is a salaried, on-call position with strict availability and experience expectations.

Critical On-Call Availability (Non-Negotiable)

  • Weekdays: On call 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM
  • Weekends: On call 24 hours per day (all hours) every other weekend
  • Must be available to answer calls immediately and work caregiving shifts when needed
  • Must respond calmly and decisively to urgent staffing, caregiver, and client needs.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must be available to help in both Lansing and Brighton territories as Needed


Experience

Direct Care & Training (Required)

  • Ability to train caregivers in all aspects of direct care, including Hoyer lift use, transfers, gait belts, toileting, showering, fall prevention, and safe mobility

  • Extensive hands-on caregiving experience required.

  • CNA background strongly preferred CNA-level skills are expected.

  • Experience conducting skills validations and supervisory visits

Leadership & Mentoring (Required)

  • Proven experience mentoring caregivers, correcting performance issues, and reinforcing care standards.

  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience required.

Scheduling & HR Experience (Preferred)

  • Scheduling experience preferred, including managing call-offs, last-minute coverage, and shift coordination.

  • HR experience preferred, such as:

    • Assisting with orientations and onboarding

    • Supporting training documentation

    • Reinforcing policies and procedures

    • Handling sensitive caregiver concerns professionally

Responsibilities

  • Answer after-hours calls with professionalism and empathy.

  • Manage call-offs and fill open shifts promptly.

  • Step in to provide care when coverage is unavailable.

  • Mentor caregivers and provide real-time coaching.

  • Conduct in-person supervisory visits and skills checks.

  • Lead orientations and assist with caregiver training.

  • Perform administrative duties, including copying, filing, and light office cleaning.

  • Provide 15–20 hours of direct caregiving per week

  • Travel between Lansing and Brighton territories as needed.

Compensation: $750.00 - $800.00 per week
